Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it safely.
I have to admit I'm extremely overwhelmed. I'm not even quite sure what the date is here. And I've barely slept in the past 2 days. Fun stuff....
My brain is still constantly repeating, "what the fuck am I doing?"
I think the lonliness is starting to kick in. Not that there aren't plenty of people around to talk with. I think I've been doing quite well at being sociable. But those new people, I'm trying to get to know a complete stranger interactions can be exhausting and not exactly fulfilling.
I did good last night though. We landed here in Bangkok at about 1:30ish a.m. my time, and after an easy pass through customs, and a ride in a non official airport taxi that they post warning signs about not taking, during which I chain smoked (oops) from fear that I'd already made a stupid solo female american tourist mistake, I arrived at Khao San Road, which is described in my guide book as the "backpackers ghetto." That was a ridiculous run on sentence. Sorry.
At this point I have no idea what the fuck to do, so i stop and talk to the first people I hear speaking english, which are three "blokes" from England.
Blah Blah Blah, I ride with them in a tuk tuk to some bar which is god knows where, to see a ping pong show (I'll let you use your imagination to figure out what that is). We end up at this little disco thing, not a ping pong show, drinking and before you know it, it's 6 in the morning, so we head back to their guesthouse, which is Big John's Guesthouse by the way.
So some how I managed to establish this crazy argumentative raport with them, which as every one who knows me knows, is totally out of charaqcter for me ;)... But they just won't shut the fuck up with the "jocular" anti american remarks. Now I'm not one to take things like that too too seriously, but I do like to be taken for who I am as a person, not lumped in with what some mostly uninformed Brits have decided to generalize the 200,000,000 plus people from the US as.
I don't think I'm going to hang out with them anymore.
I guess I assumed that if people, from anywhere in the world, have the desire to experience cultures outside their own, they might be a little less judgemental and stereotyping. But I guess by my thinking that, I'm stereotyping travelers. Anyway.
I expect I'll be encountering more of this sort of thing.
So I'm saying I'm Canadian.
Kidding!
But seriously, if people are gonna be that way, fuck em, I don't want to know em.
Sorry for rambling. I haven't even eaten yet.
I'm probably just going to take it easy today, maybe figure out how to get to the grand palace, I don't know.
I don't have any good pics yet, sorry.
Please leave comments. I think it'll make me feel a little less lonely. ppppplease...

Awwww you're feeling lonely candice? Poor thing! Never forget that there are people over here in the dirty American land stoked for you, and eagerly waiting your exploration and reports!
I think it will probably take a little while to settle in, i mean Shoot...its a whole NEW world over there. Just like Jasmine said. Just the jet lag alone has got to be tough. But, you'll regather yourself soon chick! And when you do...TONS of adventure is waiting you there!
I am so impressed with your bravery and adventure. Namaste candice.
Now find someplace comfy, safe, and warm...grub...sleep...smile...and meditate until you are ready to take that place on full force.
Sending lots of warm non-lonely vibes your way chick!!
Oh yeah! Also, I have a friend that i went to high school with that lives in Thailand right now! Very cool dude. He's actually in bangkok i believe. I just wrote him a message to get his contact info for you if you need it, or would like a little safety zone to retreat to! I'll send it to you when i have it!
Hey hey HEY (you know). Barely arrived and already arguing, even though those of us who know you know you NEVER do that. I love it. I know you're about to be enjoying a ridonkulous amount of experiences, and I most definitely can't wait until I get to come visit. Until then, be careful, eat more food, and drink a lot of water (you gotta stay hydrated man), and of course, as always, take it easy. Talk to you soon, kiddo! I love you! Straight up <3
I am hanging on every word. A bit jealous too..
Glad to hear you made it there. Sounds like you might be suffering from jetlag. Get you some good sleep and rest....even you "20ish" adults need to rest at times. You'll feel better and ready to begin your adventure with renewed engergy. BTW...if you meet anymore Brits...tell them you're a TEXAN! They might be intrigued because some of them still think Texas is the wild west where guys go around with six-shooters, ride wild horses and have gunfights....no concept of 21st century Texas. Anyway, get caught up on your sleep so you can experience this adventure. Take care of yourself please....and like I said before....I'm just an old grandma but I'll be praying for you at all times while you're so far away. Love you mucho....G Judy
You'll meet some interesting people, see some sights and have a great time!
I miss you already!

Mom
