This morning we woke up and got a lift at 10 to the bus station to get the mini-van to Ayutthaya. Everyone came to the bus station to see us off, it was lovely, and Len’s sister had made us some little flip flop clay things as souvenirs. The journey was longer than that from Bangkok and actually involved two mini-buses but we eventually made it and found a guest house that is nice (even if you do have to force the door to the ensuite open past the sink and have to practically sit on the toilet to have a shower).

We had a little walk around to orientate ourselves, and were in awe already of the old ruins that are beautiful. Both of us noticed that Ayutthaya is less popular with tourists right now than Bangkok and Chiang Mai but don’t really know why… I guess it is low season but still judging by the amount of people who made their way to Chiang Mai I would have expected more people…

We had dinner and a VERY strong Mai Tai and have now retired to our guesthouse to plan and catch up with all internet activities that we have missed for the last few days =]
