Tajikistan is a small country in a Central Asia. So what makes this country from other countries in the World or even close by other Central Asian countries. The simplest thing that strikes many tourists visiting this country is hospitality of the people and amazingly cheap prices. The other thing is its glorious mountains and peaks, in fact Tajikistan has hundreds of mountains and peaks more than 6,000 meters, 5000 m is probably thousands. The most comparable country to Tajikistan's nature would be Nepal. So let's see what makes Tajikistan different from Nepal. As an obvious visitor being in both countries I can see the differences clearly. Tajikistan unlike Nepal for example does not have that “crowdy feeling” you can’t see smokes of pollution from diesel engines, it is much more calmer even in its biggest city. The roads are wide and traffic is not jammed. The other thing is quite obvious is that people here somewhat relaxing. In terms of nature Tajikistan is not as hot in the valleys as it is in Nepal. It seems to me that Tajikistan has more rivers, more lakes then Nepal, which on other hand has more bare mountains. In fact small takes on
8th place in terms of water resources in the world. Also in term of nature Tajikistan somewhat resembles Swiss alpine nature. Tajikistan is home to as many as 20 big nature reserves that serve and protect animals and forests. Although Tajikistan has not as developed tourism infrastructure as in other countries, nevertheless during Soviet Union it had very good sanatoriums and health resorts, which counted 98 serving as many as 20,000 visitors. They were built near mineral springs, near gazers, hot-bath springs in the nature reserves. The abundance of mineral springs, blue lakes, fast mountain rivers, Himalayan like tall mountains, nature reserves, forests makes Tajikistan ideal place for white water rafting, hunting, alpinism, ecotourism, bird-watching, mountain climbing, health resorts, trekking etc. SO if you are tired of Nepal or other tourism destination Tajikistan can offer unique experience where you feel yourself like at home in addition to saving a bunch of bucks that you could use in your next trip. As it says in Tajik “Khush-omaded” or “Welcome” to Tajikistan.
