Tainan has a bunch of traffic circles. I am on Fucian Rd Sec. 1. Yeah, a lot of the roads have sections, not sure why. That's not so bad, but then a lot of streets will just change names once you go through an intersection. That's not helpful. Mostly that happens at the circles. They have english letters to let you know the street names too, but some are so similar, like Chenggong Rd and Chengrong Rd.
Everything seems like a store around here. 7-11 is everywhere and they have slurpees, hot dogs, Budweiser and Busch, coffee too but its more prepackaged iced coffees, the hot stuff isnt out for you to pour yourself, you have to ask for it, apparantly they only just started having hot coffee this year. Hi-Lite and Family Mart are around too and they are exactly like 7-11. Lots of food carts. Sometimes the person running the food cart is also running the clothing store it's in front of. I bought one shirt so far for $400. They actually have Obey brand clothes here, i couldn't believe it, but i think those shirts are like $3000-$4000. I bought a new book too at a store that
Palm
this was near the river at the dragon boat festival, but none of my pictures of the boats or the rowers came out had an english section. They had it for only $80 but i splurged and paid double for the version "and other stories."
I also stumbled into some section of town that was a bunch of game houses. It looked like a bunch of people gambling, but i think they were just playing games. Like an arcade. But speaking of gambling, there is this lottery system: every receipt you get after purchasing something has random numbers printed on it. Then, every two months the government announces the numbers and depending on how many numbers you can match, you win money. So, it's something like you keep all your receipts from january and february, then at the end of march you find out the winning numbers and you look through your receipts to see if you got it.
Chopsticks - don't leave them in the bowl of rice, you have to lay them on top of the bowl and don't angle them straight down into the bowl its rude. But otherwise, just eat like no one else is there, don't bother with manners, if you need to burp you just do it and its like nothing happened, eww gross. Luckily i havent
heard anyone fart. Oh man, this one girl, i heard her burp, and then she did that thing right after where she exhaled deeply and blew it out of her mouth with her breath, ughhhh. I stopped breathing for 3 days after that.
I saw a pizza hut yesterday. I saw Combos at the supermarket (weren't they MIA in CA?). I saw a shirt that said, "Keep your fridge fully stocked because then the fridge will not need to recycle as frequently and you'll use less energy" and i thought that was great advice.
