Odovzdat skuter mam do 9.30. Vyhlady na more niesu az take super ale cesta fajn. Okolo 12.00 prestava fungovat wifi. To je pruser bo nemam rezervovane ubytko, resp mam spat u jessicinho kamosa ale ten ma moze hostit az od soboty. Po relaxe kupa vody ... read more

Komunikacia prebiehala pomocou mobilu a googla translatora. Idem teda omrknut pozicovne do centra. Najedeny skusam dalsie dve pozicovne, elektro za 800td ... read more

V pohode vyspaty, spakovanie sa a opustenie ubytka. Dole v lobby spal volaky clovek, nevim ci zamestnanec abo co. V metre dobijam easy kartu. Kupujem ranajky a smer bus stanica. Cestou sa dava so mnou do reci miestny clovek. Trasu medzi kaohsiung a hengchun operuju rozne spolocnosti. ... read more

We've now got to the Southernmost point of Taiwan. Kenting National park and the idea is to not do too much for the next three days and hopefully have a bit of beach time. So some random photos that I didn't get round to uploading as they were taking too long!... read more

Hi everyone! Sorry I missed out on last weekend's blog post... Not much happened last week, so it was much easier to procrastinate writing a post. Last weekend most of the girls went to Taipei for the weekend, although KC and I hung out in Taichung, due to lack of both funds and interest. On Friday night we made our way back to Fung Jia night market, which was actually more fun with just the two of us. I'm finding that lots of things are actually easier and more fun to do with fewer people. When there is a large group, so much time is lost trying to please everyone, but with only two it is much easier to simply detour into whichever stores catch your fancy. We ended up in a lot of clothing and ... read more

This day started with a loud noise outside of the hotel room. The students from Taichung high school are lining outside of the cafeteria (long frgging line!) for their final meal before departure, so we had to resort to good old McDonalds. The great thing about Kenting is the convenience, a few minutes walk to all the little stores and vacation needs (scooter rentals and kayaking and scuba diving etc). Hsiao Du pork buns was on my to-do list in Kenting, so we got a taxi. "You might have to be in line for a while," said the taxi driver. Really? What is this place like? Ten minute drive to the place, lucky! No line, but we were faced with a menu with short description and a quick decision to make (the lady at the counter ... read more

Ni hao! (hello in Chinese) Or I suppose I should say zao an (Good Morning! in Chinese) I hope life is finding you well. I know it's been a bit since my last update, much has happened since I last emailed you. A few weekends ago, I went to Kenting National Park with a couple of new teachers from Cornel as well as members of the church I've been attending. Just a few facts about Kenting that I found which you might be interested in hearing: "Kenting National Park is a national park located in the Hengchun Peninsula of Pingtung County, Taiwan...it is Taiwan's oldest and southernmost national park, covering the southernmost area of the Taiwan island. this national park is well-known for its tropical climate and sunshine, scenic mountain and beach...and has long been one ... read more

I just spent 2 relaxing days in Kenting- a National Park/ beach area in Taiwan. Marco closed his teashop and about 25 of his employees, friends (less than half of whom spoke English), and I all hopped into about 5 separate cars and caravaned it down the 2 hour drive to spend a couple of much needed days at the beach- it has been over 90 degrees here almost everyday, so I was excited just thinking about being able to go swimming. We stopped for lunch along the way at a busy seafood restaurant. Kenting is known for it's great, cheap seafood. I was a little worried being a vegetarian and all, but luckily I wasn't alone. One of Marco's friends is also a veggie and he showed me all of the amazing food 7-11 has ... read more

Once Chinese New Year's Eve was over, it was time to head to the beach. We spent three days there. The plan was to surf and hike. The weather wasn't too great, but we did get a day of surfing in on Claire's birthday. Other than that, it was cool - literally and figuratively. Wednesday was Claire's birthday. It was cool. Hey...?...it's late July 2010, and I'm just getting around to posting this. We've been busy. Really busy. We'll be finished with Taiwan on September 1st. From here we'll head to Kuala Lumpur for a few days of R&R and hopefully to meet up with a few friends (Rob included!) and then we'll head to Shillong, India for some volunteer work with Impulse NGO Network. We'll be putting our amazing business skills to use (and we'll ... read more
