A big Buddha statue - HikkaduwaA big Buddha statue - HikkaduwaA big Buddha statue - Hikkaduwa

This Buddha statue was placed here to remember those who lost their lives when the tsunami wave hit Colombo-Galle train.
We decided to travel along the coast from Negombo-Colombo-Kelaniya and then reaching all the way down Southern tip of Sri Lanka.

As soon as we left Kelaniya, we realised that it is not as easy as we thought to drive along the high road. There were too many vehicles on the road and a few of them are following the rules of the traffic book. So we drove inland while visiting so many locally famous places from tea shops to local religious places. It was a wonderful experience for us as we passed acres of paddy fields and rubber plantations.

As the darkness reaches early with a sign of rain over Southern tip of Sri Lanka, We decided to take a break from constant driving.
