yesterday umiths parents took annual leave days and we took a trip to KAndy in the centre of Sri lanka. we woke at 4am(!) and left about 5am. after a 3 hour drive we arrived. first stop was the temple of the tooth relic. it is a famous temple that has Lord Budda's tooth in the chamber. it is a scared site and many people have nver been inside the chamber except we went yesterday .hehehe connections. umiths father knows someone so we got to see the chamber even kokila had never seen it before. it was a gold encrusted monument. no pictures to show because you arent allowed to take them. so you will just have to believe me. i have some from the outside and the muscians that play in this ceremony that is all. after there we went umiths dad friend who was also at the temple for a drink at hotel swisse. mm nice. they dont have coffee shops or similar here so you go have refreshments at hotel but it is not at all expensive. i love fresh pineapple juice it is as cheap as water in the bottle.
after we went to the temple we
went to the botanical gardens. a very beautiful place lots of flowers and orchids-so many i got a little bored hehehe and umith very bored not really his cup of tea.
after a hot walk around the gardens we went went to have some lunch.
lunch was brief for me i wasnt hungry i drank nearly 3 litres of water. we then decided to head down the road to the elephant orphanage. at 4pm is feeding time. so we went and watched them being fed. they are wild and are not tamed but they come at 4pm to be fed. some of them have sad stories. one is blind, one disabled other have lost ears and some their tusks. recently a few gave birthso their are some tiny babies.
after the feeding we took the long journay back home. this time it took longer about 4 hours to get back because of traffic. i am still amazed so many more people are not killed.
