Here we go!!!
It's been an absolutely INSANE few weeks to get everything finalized to leave for the next year and a half. Let's just say, we
slightly underestimated just how much we had to take care of. Today we finished packing our bags after a fairly sleepless night, and we're heading to the airport in about 3 hours...wow! It's really hard to describe how we feel today. Are we excited? Yeah! Are we also freaking out a little at the same time? Absolutely! It's hard to pack up your life and leave everything and everyone behind. It's even HARDER to say goodbye to everyone. The next few days should be really interesting we think. Our flight leaves at 1:00 in the morning with a 14 hour flight to South Korea, where we have a 4 hour layover, and then a 4 hour flight to Hong Kong…
Later at the airport in Chicago…
Well, what can we say? Goodbye is never easy, and this was a VERY hard goodbye! Nate honestly thought he was going to cry like a 2 year girl who just skinned her knee, but he held it together (for the most part)

. It’s
midnight and it’s about time for a cocktail after all the stress of the last few weeks. Anyways, we’re just glad that we’ve actually made it to the starting point. We honestly thought this day would never come, and we both agree it’s really hard to know how to feel. We're a mix of happy, sad, nervous, a little guilty for leaving, anxious, exhausted, VERY stressed out, excited, or just about any other emotion you can add to the mix. Don’t get us wrong, we can’t wait to get started on our much anticipated adventure, but it’s been just a BIT rougher than we thought to get to this point.
Ok…enough of the sappy stuff! Let’s get to what we brought in our backpacks because we know you’ll all want to know what we left with. Keep in mind it’s late and we’re about to board the plane, so here is a really quick rundown and we’ll be sure to update with specific information in the next post, we promise. Clothes: 1 pair of jeans, 1 jacket, 1 long-sleeved shirt, 4 tank tops, 5 t-shirts, 6 pairs of underwear, 4 pairs of socks, pj pants and shorts, 1 pair
of flip flops, hiking shoes, normal shoes, 2 swimming suits, Jessie also has a dress and 3 bras. Look for the 2 packing cubes we fit ALL of our clothes in. Even we were impressed! We’ll tell you about the rest next time.
Airport in Seoul...
Actually, for a 14 hour flight, we really can't complain! Great service, decent food, plenty of leg room, private tv screens, what more do you want? We're waiting to board our next flight to Hong Kong and the excitement is definitely building now! We cannot WAIT to get to Hong Kong and start exploring (after a shower of course) ! We just have to leave you with a redneck Jeff Foxworthy joke...
You know you're from Wisconsin if....you board an international flight and you bring homemade venison jerky with you as a snack! Thanks dad/Gary! It was gone before we even landed in South Korea, yummmm!! By the way, for those of you who don't know what venison is, it's deer meat.
Until next time...
xoxo Nate and Jessie
