Korean Air
Airline of choice Greetings from South Korea!!
Well we're not bad children (taking so long to contact you) but for some random reason there is no phone service here?! So now we're back at the airport for day 2 and we thought we'd give you a little run down on The A team's adventure thus far.....
Ok so the flight over was great. We got under way right on time and the plane would have been less than half full. None of the middle (4 seaters) rows were taken at all so it was a free for all amongst those "polite" people to grab them willy nilly. Adam and I were quite happy with our seating (Adam got the window seat) because we weren't over the wing not to mention the fact that there was copious amounts of leg room! We're talking - Adam and I could both cross our legs and still not touch the seat in front of us. Turns out there's a lot to be said for taking an older plane 😊 Only down side was that there were no personal screens but it really didn't matter as we could see the big one fine.
Food - of
Freezing
Enjoying the sub zero temps outside Incheon Airport course we'd put in a paragraph on food! Each meal time had both a Korean and Australian choice, we however went with the flow and had Korean. Breakfast was chicken (marinated in something tasty) and fried rice, lunch was a little more traditionally Korean so they gave us "how to" cards showing us what got mixed where etc. Was another rice dish and also a soup, plus the tastiest cheese cake ever! Plenty of it too which Adam was quietly pleased about. We settled for white wine as the only beer they offered was fosters 😞
Got a little bit of sleep but surprisingly enough we weren't really feeling tired at all and didn't hit us until dinner last night. Mainly kept entertained watching the movies (Dream Girls is terrible) and reading and talking (yes Adam got chatty!).
We arrived a bit late due to heavy traffic (and cloud) but made it through customs in two seconds and then (after some organising) made it outside to wait for our bus to the Incheon Hyatt. Well let us just say.... OUCH! It was soooooo cold! Minus 3 to be exact and a lovely little breeze to go with that!
Morning Walk
Outside the Hyatt, enjoying a brisk morning walk! So to start off with we were like "yeah this isn't too bad, we'll be fine" then after about 10 minutes (buses came every 15) um we pretty much lost feeling to our noses, ears, cheeks etc etc. Then we realised it had started snowing!!! Thankfully about the same time the bus arrived and man did we move fast to get on! The poor English girl that had been waiting with us had shorts and a tee shirt on, gosh she was bright pink by the time the bus came! Was funny though as lots of the people (waiting with us) were Queenslanders and had never been in weather colder than our winters back home. So they were terrified 😊
The hotel was really nice and super efficient. They have this whole stop over thing down pat. You get your little hotel, dinner and breakfast voucher, pick up time (depending on flight time) etc and a way you go. So we went up to our room and I jumped on the bed (super excited) and realised it was possibly made out of concrete, it was so hard! But it didn't stop either of us from sleeping in a coma
all night long. Adam actually liked the beds, thought it helped his back heaps.
Food (again) - dinner was a 3 course meal of pumpkin soup, a beef and rice dish and some apple cake thingy. All in all really nice. Breakfast this morning was a buffet, again really nice. Adam was in heaven with some noodle dish and lots of dim sims for breakfast! I was a little more traditional 😊
After breakfast we had some time to kill so thought we'd go for a little walk around the streets. Turns out last night got down to minus 7 and my word it was crisp when we stepped outside! The maximum today is only going to be minus 2 and I don't think its got up there just yet. Our walk lasted about 3 and a half minutes before our ears were in some serious trouble and we had to make a fast paced walk back to the warmth of the hotel. So long story short - we're both going to need beanies.
Anyway now we're back in the airport after having some crazy customs people search our bags (and pat me down) before letting us through the gates. And that pretty much brings you up to speed. Next stop London...
