AutumnOur beautiful fall colors.
Hi family, friends and neighbors,
Life continues to be a blast. I've been very busy at work, teaching and helping other teachers pilot a new program here at English village. It is a new experience using different skills and I am enjoying that part of it. It has added up to doing work related activities over 50 hours a week which I am not enjoying. On the bright side, there are some Korean teachers taking the Harvard teaching course I am taking and we have become friends. Today they invited me for tea at the neighboring art village. Then one of the teachers offered to take me and Richard grocery shopping tomorrow. Yeah! Not having a car, that was a really blessing.
A couple of times when talking to teachers, the subject of drinking came up. Here the teachers often go out for drinks after work--the interesting difference is that they freely talk about each other's drinking habits over lunch or with others--even if the person isn't there. Koreans are more open about their drinking habits even if you're a teacher!
For the first time, we haven't seen the boys this week. They have tests this coming week and
they have study sessions over the weekend. However, last weekend, the boys and three of their friends came to visit us. They rented bikes at the art village and had a blast. They got to watch quite a bit of TV and hang out together. Chris made breakfast of french toast for everyone. It was so nice to have them, but we weren't accustomed to the noise and activity level.
I've somehow run out of things to say already--so I'll add the pictures and finish here. Love you, Kasia/Kath
SleepoverSome people's jaws drop when they know we had a sleepover with 5 boys. It was a lot of fun for us all.
Shoe switchChris switched his shoes so a woman staffer could take off heels and walk comfortable in his shoes. This day we visited an American army base in Seoul.
Polish PlaqueOutside of the army base, there is a touristy area w/ many western shops. Plaques from different countries are imbedded in the sidewalk.
Korean friendsAt the coffee shop across from English Village. It looks like one teacher has a man w/ flags on her head.
Quilt cafeThe coffee shop is called Quilt Cafe and is part of the art village. Quilting is not popular but it is included as an art form in the art village. Those are fabric swatches.
Fake foodKoreans have some of the best looking fake foods. There are many displays in front of restaurants. These are fake dunkin donuts. They have some different kinds of donuts here like cream cheese squares
