So... week 9 and 10 were kind of eventful! week 9 we headed to the Kimchi festival. Kimchi is a huge part of Korean culture.. They eat Kimchi at every meal... Fomented cabbage which is super spicy.. not a fan but I decided I might as well try it while in Korea. Friends came down from another city in Korea and we all went out to party that night. It was a great night! My children were getting better until they threw me a curve ball and added 4 new students into my 5 year old class who don't speak English at all. My 5 year olds are amazing which is very trying now that these new children are in the class.. the others are not liking it very much and are acting up all the time. I was super excited to get a package from the family back in Canada it made my week for sure! Lots of KD, Chocolate, chips and Swiss chalet sauce and Alfredo what could be better than that?!!? THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!!
Week 10 - Halloween was awesome!!!! My kids were adorable the entire school dressed up which is a big deal since they
do not celebrate Halloween here at all and none of the children had ever experienced it. We started out with a birthday party for 80 minutes where they got pictures taken and the children who had birthdays in October all got presents. - Birthdays are the best for snack- It’s always banana's, fried chicken, rice and cake- Which is so much better than some of the other snacks which are pumpkin mush or bean something it's black and creamy weird. There was a rotation some of the classes went trick or treating to each of the classrooms in period 2 while the others went to the haunted house then the classes switched for the last period. I was in the Haunted house all of period 3 with some of the other teachers. We decorated the haunted house after our teachers meeting on Friday we had bookshelves on their sides, lots of spiders, bats, ghosts and stuff hanging from the ceiling it was really dark in the room and scary music playing - grave yard was set up where Andrew hid behind and would jump out at the children, Dave was crawling around the floor grabbing at the legs of the
children and Stuart was a scarecrow that would move and scare the kids as they passed. I popped balloons and sat in a corner and when children started to cry I’d get them out.. My four year olds I’m happy to say only 2 cried and the rest hit the guys haha. The 5 6 and 7 cried and screamed it was amusing. They were fine soon as they got out and we showed them who was actually chasing them hahaha.
Saturday - Caroline and I went to the National Museum where we explored lots of ancient artifacts - We couldn't take pictures inside so there’s not many of that day trip! This was also my first Korean bus experience... I feel much safer in a bus then a taxi that is for sure!! After that we all went out at night dressed up down town! What a night that was!!!
All in all... these last 10 weeks have been fun and I'm excited to continue this experience!
Miss you all!!
picI just liked it
