Angel in us
Yay! for really good coffee! WAY too expensive though On Sunday we went to the big church we went to for Easter to play volleyball. We had about 14 of us playing so we did 6 on 6 with one person rotating out. It was really fun! A few people in our group had been dying to play ever since they got here so it was nice that the church had arranged it. A real gym, court, net, and ball! This seems to be a very common trend here in south korea: things not going as planned due to strange, illogical interruptions. So the English service at the church had rented out the gym for 2 hours. As in...signed up on a sheet and reserved it. We play for about an hour and then 12 Koreans in suits show up and tell us we need to leave. After some attempts at translating and just all around confusion we hear that we need to leave so they can set up chairs for a concert....on FRIDAY. It is Sunday. Okay, ya, that makes sense. Then we are told that we can play a little bit longer if we help them set up. Ummm, no thanks. We decided to leave. So then we

We don't see maps like this at home! go to a big "field" to play football and ultimate frisbee. By field I mean a large place of dirt. We start playing and then about 40 Koreans show up in their baseball gear and tell us they are playing there. Ha ha...ooook. So we scoot down the field and give them about 3/4 of it. And there we are playing frisbee and suddenly there are Koreans dragging a soccer goal onto our part of the field. Next thing I see is Jake pushing it off of the field. Ha ha. We had a Korean in our group so I think he told them to move it because we are playing there. So they moved their 2 soccer goals up the field a little bit. So here on this field, we are playing ultimate frisbee, a whole lot of people are playing baseball, and quite a few more are playing soccer. This was all fine until I'm chasing after the frisbee and BANG. I have no idea what happened. My head is down at my knees and I can't hear anything. Then ringing, loud, super high pitch in my ear. Then I realized after a while, oh man that must
Ultimate
Playing frisbee have been a baseball. Before that I thought it was a human head/skull that crashed into mine. The sound was terrible. A few minutes later I realize it was a soccer ball kicked into the side of my face. It really wasn't THAT painful but I was crying, and absolutely couldn't stop. I was like "wow, get it together." But I kept crying. Not like bawling, but tears. I guess it scared the crap out of me! After a while, I felt the headache. But everyone was standing around asking if I was okay and maybe I was embarrassed, I don't know. Two of the girls with us have been here for 3 1/2 years teaching. One of them said that the guy who kicked it at me was standing by me waiting to make sure I was okay because he knew that if I had to go to the hospital he would have to pay. Ha ha I thought that was interesting. I kept wanting him to go away. I was waving him away, I'm fine, I'm fine. But I was crying. Mixed signals. Lol...it was strange.
That kind of killed the frisbee game so then we went
Michael Jordan
Yes, Jake got his first reference to MJ by Korean kids out to eat and it was super good. The place also had free ice cream cones. After that we were all super tired so we went home...and yes, I was sore the next day. That was the most athletic activity I've had in way too long! ha ha. It was fun though and we're all looking forward to playing again. We're going on a 4-5 hour hike with the church group this Saturday. It's about a 2 1/2- 3 hour drive away so I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the country. And Sunday we're going to our first S.Korean baseball game! Fun times

Glad you're OK Bethany!
It's so much fun reading your updates, I love them! That's awesome that your bf is MJ! Ha ha Please be careful on your next "field-day" games day. It will be dangerous with soccer players, baseballs and frisbees all over the one field! :)
