I apologize to you all, my devoted readers. I have a tendency to do this: tell myself to blog and and up not blogging. Here I am though, and I'll try to keep this better updated.
It's been a long time since the last post but I don't feel like spending forever here right now, so I'll fill in the blank some other time.
Just came back from
Busan a few hours ago. It was an EAP-organized trip. Bus was set to leave at 800. Jessica gave me a wakeup call at 730. She called me again at 750--I had fallen back sleep. Brushed my teeth quickstatus and ran to the bus. I got there and looked at the bus driver, expecting him to ask for my name and cross me off a list or something. He just looked at me though, as if I were some weirdo. He said something in Korean, which didn't help at all. After a moment of awkwardness, I just stepped onto the bus. Turns out it wasn't leaving yet.
Eventually headed out after a few more people got on. Bussed to
Anhdong. It's a little village-y place. We walked over to a restaurant where they had made reservations for us. On the way there, it started to rain. Half of us didn't have our umbrellas, stupidly. I forgot to bring mine in my rush to the bus. I got soaked. We got to our destination and...NOT! Turns out the restaurant we were looking for had moved to where the bus dropped us off. Fail. It was pouring so hard at this point. Luckily we hopped on the local bus and it took us to the restaurant. And then when we started eating and the rain stopped. It started up again just as we were leaving--of course.
Bunch of us peoples bought umbrellas at a souvenir shop and then we took a 'tour' around
Anhdong. It was a crappyass tour, though. We walked ourselves around the area and then got back on the bus to continue our way to Busan.
Arrived around 1730 and everyone got a burger and coke. The room was a little on the sketch side but was alright. Beach front. No beds though; we were given mats to sleep on. Headed out that night and walked along the beach figuring out what to do. Ended up walking back and forth 3 times. After 4 Korean
ajumma tarot readings and what felt like endless walking we finally agreed to a place. Ate
sam gyap sal. Afterward we got some sparklers to play with on the beach. Got back to the beach and started lighting them up. "Yay! Woo! So fun!" While we were still lighting them up we heard intense whistling. Looked over to see 2 beach patrol dudes running toward us. So, we weren't allowed to do that on the beach. They confiscated our sparklers. Those Koreans don't mess around.
Hung out on the beach until ~300 and we fellows headed back to our room. Ladies were out until 5 apparently.
Next day we checked out at 1200 and then had 'free time'. Asked Michelle(EAP coordinator?) where we could call a cab and she showed us. Needed to walk all the way across the beach to get there. Actually, no we didnt need to cross the beach. She tricked us into going to see the APEC center. We realized this 2/3 way there and the girls split. Guys continued because a few of us didnt mind. I thought the bridge thing was nice. APEC center was nothing...just a building. Met up at the mall, ate lunch, and just walked around.
Got excited because it's the 'biggest mall in the world' but I was very much disappointed. I expected bigger, so I'm skeptical of the criteria. Apparently it has a driving range at the top so we tried to get there but there was no elevator that would take us to the 11th floor. Asked an information guy and he said we werent allowed. Dang.
Left the mall around 1630 to make it back by 1700. Played w/ the bumper cars by the hotel to kill time. That was actually pretty fun. It's this unregulated, coin operated little thing that is potentially very dangerous. It was outside this small mart inan open area. As we were all driving around this mom+child just walk by. Kelly almost hit the boy.
Anyway, so EAP went to this really nice seafood buffet. So good. Got back onthe bus around 1900. Knocked out on the bus, but after 2230 I couldnt sleep anymore. I was so bored. I couldnt read or study because they didnt turn on the personal lights. Nothing to do. Finally arrived at Yonsei ~0030 and I hung out with Daryl for a bit. He introduced me to these artists: Younha and Kobukuro.
Now it's 1430 sunday afternoon and i had to retype this entry becauseI got disconnected. ARGH. anyhow, i'm hungry and have homework to do.
Byebye.
