We found a good place for breakfast and then started our walk. The architecture in Singapore is so interesting and diverse and it's great they are preserving the old buildings as well as constructing amazing new ones. We walked past Chijmes which was originally a Catholic convent and then over the Helix bridge past Marina Bay Sands to the Gardens by the Bay. We spent some time there before making our way to the Chinatown via the MRT. We looked at the various shops there and also visited the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. We also visited the Indian Temple where there was a funeral in progress which we watched for a while. We caught the MRT to our nearest station and had dinner near our hotel. We had a swim at the hotel pool before retiring ... read more

Hi everyone, We arrived in Singapore at around 6 pm after a rather gruelling flight. Pat got a reasonable amount of sleep but with the other travellers sniffing, coughing, shouting out and a quartet of loud snorers I hardly managed any sleep. Never mind we can get an early night. We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant which I have to say was yummy. One of the deserts was fruit based and looked like custard but had a very strange taste. Some say it has a fishy tange. I rather enjoyed it! Then I had a drink which again had a fruity taste but as you got nearer the end little worm like strands of gelletine got caught in your teeth. It was ok,quite harmless. Pat really was full of energy as you can see. All the ... read more

Our taxi arrived at 6.45 to take us to the airport. We checked in and went through, purchasing a few more gifts at the airport shops. The flight was a little late and almost 3 hours later we landed in Singapore. We got some money at the ATM then caught a taxi to Hotel Mi. ($18 taxi). The hotel is very new and in a very convenient and nice area. We freshened up and headed out finding a street market and then the Bugis Markets passing an Indian Temple and a Chinese Temple. We had some dinner at Bugis Junction before returning to the hotel.... read more

What was good about our 15 hour journey from Dublin to Singapore? Getting complimentary 200ml bottles of champagne from the Norwegian Air flight attendant after Mags "let slip" we were on our official honeymoon. What was bad about about our 15 hour journey to said location? The two and a half year old toddler who had been tapping Mags on the shoulder for the entire trip to show off her colouring book suddenly decided to make a dive for Mags glass of champers and ended up knocking half of the said champagne bottle all over Mags! On Singapore itself, I have to say I've been absolutely blown away by the architecture, engineering and design of the city.. it somehow feels like we've been teleported to the future! In Dublin, anything over 6 stories high would be ... read more

I had a lovely visit down to Singapore but this time I managed to catch up with my friend Ed, and meet their new addition to the family, a beautiful daughter. I also caught up with Ashok and even checked out a couple of Michelin Star Hawker's places. Very enjoyable.... read more

Yesterday we made the most of every minute ? Left the hotel at 10am - returned at 8pm - in bed by 9pm and slept till 830 am - all of us!!! It was a typical Singapore day - 35+ humidity and it didn't take long for the girls to complain- in fact they never stopped complaining- oh wait maybe for the 10 minutes the ice cream lasted .... anyway - I was on a mission - I wanted to see the gardens and no amount of heat, sweat or tears was going to change my mind. I was not disappointed and I could have comfortably stayed there all day. The Orchard garden was something out of heaven - I'm sure the Garden of Eden must have been something close- it was just beautiful. We then ... read more

). Après cette petite ... read more

About The Line Up until 2011, Malaysia's national rail service (KTM) operated a train service into Singapore on a line that stretched the north-south axis of Singapore from the Singapore-Malaysia border in the north to the city center in the south. KTM also owned the land on which the line was built. In 2011, the train service started terminating at the northern end of Singapore. The land was returned to Singapore, and it is in the process of being preserved as a green corridor. I understand that the track was about 24km long. My parents downsized to their condo that same year. Their condo's location is awesome - it is right next to Singapore's nature reserve, and I have enjoyed many hikes in the area every time I return to visit. Their condo is also close ... read more

22nd July 2017 Weekend This was a weekend staycation @ the Quincy Hotel Orchard Road for KW and myself. The main reason that we booked the Quincy is that this is one of the few hotels where all rooms enjoy complimentary club benefits. In a nutshell, all our meals were fully taken care of during the duration of our stay which was an excellent choice since we did not wish to step outside the hotel during our staycation. The swimming pool at the roof top was rather small even though it didn't seem to be crowded when I was using the facilities on both occasions. The hotel appeared to be a favourite choice among birthday guests since we noticed the service crew going round the tables during dinner and presenting small treats to the birthday boy ... read more

Our gateway to South East Asia was the beautiful modern and cosmopolitan city of Singapore. One of the highlights for us was the amazing lights show at the Gardens by the Bay! Unfortunately a backpacker budget doesn't quite stretch to the Marina Bay Sands 5 star hotel (despite Mau's protestations) but we did manage to make it to the rooftop bar on the 57th floor where we enjoyed some Singapore Sling cocktails. We were both taken aback by the grandeur of the city. And also the expense! However we were pleasantly surprised by its character and really enjoyed strolling through the charming neighbourhoods in Little India and Chinatown. It's a city we would definitely come back to given the opportunity. Ideally having won the lotto first. ... read more
