"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Helen Keller

"It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had." Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Singapore is a country all within a beautiful Island.

Singapore has several ethnic neighborhoods, including Chinatown and Little India. We stayed in Chinatown at the Scarlett Hotel, and then five nights in the Phoenix Hotel in the Orchard Road District. We loved the Scarlett Hotel.

The Singapore Subway is very organized and clean, so we had no trouble finding our way comfortably around Singapore.

One day we visited Sentosa Island which included a Cable Car ride in the sky, an Aquarium where you are under the fish, a Dolphin show, and we spent a few hours relaxing on the Beach. We also visited the Botanical Gardens and spent several days eating great vegetarian food in Chinatown.

Of course, we stopped by the Raffles Hotel and tried a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar where it was invented and made famous. (It’s too sweet!) We shopped in Little India, spent an evening at the Singapore Art Museum, and were very happy to stumble upon a miniature three dimensional reproduction of Singapore at the Singapore planning commission (which was next door to our hotel). The reproduction of the city includes all the larger new buildings that will be put up in the next 5 years. They are very organized in Singapore. We also took a dinner cruise around Singapore harbor. The food was bad but the view was incredible. Finally, we loved the Sri Mariamman Temple, which is a Hindu temple built in 1843.

Singapore gained its independence from Britain in 1959, and has prospered as a parliamentary republic ever since. For more information on its history you can read the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore
