It all started with Akshay and Ranjan planning to attend the Singapore Grand Prix (F1 race). The rest of us were indifferent towards it but wanted to go for an international trip. They had already roped in Pramod and Suhas (GP) before they asked me to join. I had never been out of India and thus, jumped at their request. Yashwanth on the other hand gave us a threshold (6 excluding him) for the number of people joining us in order to grace us with his presence. We were not able to meet his threshold by 1 person because of which he declined to join us. After booking the flight tickets, we quickly searched for hotels to stay in and found a backpacker's motel called G4 Station. It had decent enough reviews and we decided to ... read more

And so we crossed over the causeway to Singapore and passport control. On inspecting Noushin's Iranian passport, the female Passport Control officer made a couple of telephone calls, before an armed guard escorted us away to the administration centre for further interviews. The Passport Border Guards remained courteous and polite throughout and after tying up a few loose ends, her passport was stamped and the official wished Noushin a pleasant stay in Singapore. We went through the Red Customs channel as we had nuts and other food stashed away in our panniers, however when we were met by the customs official he simply asked us whether we had alcohol or cigarettes in our possession and then told us that he himself was a keen cyclist. Having given us clear route instructions on how to reach our ... read more

Hello there my followers.. Today is our last day in Singapore ,we left Greg and Wendy's house at midday it was 35 degrees YAY, checked into our room at the Marina Bay Sands Resort (endorsed by David Beckenham) so it must be okay, they let us go to our room early so that was very cool, we are on the 44th floor with a balcony and river view. Lexie got straight into her togs and went to the pool on the 57th floor it is at the very top and goes to the edge so that you can look over Singapore. We headed out to Sentosa beach this afternoon to Universal Studios it was great fun, the rides were cool....woohoo, we caught the monorail out to Vivo City and had a look around. Back at the ... read more

Hi People, So we started off the day badly!! I check my bag and found I have lost £700 of cash in different currencies :( Vick was not happy and I'm gutted so much money to lose!! I have phoned both hostels we stayed at and no luck but to be honest if you found it what would you do....pocket it probably!!!! So after that start we headed out to Sentosa Island, it was recommended to us by many different people. We got the MRT (Metro system) there, which is very easy to use and follow as it's all in English unlike Russia and China!!! We walked over the Broadway bridge which was nice and only cost $1 (1 Singapore dollar = 50p). There is loads to do here and great for families, however it was ... read more

I bought a package deal for Resorts World that was a huge win. Its on their website and a family deal including a family suite with tickets to universal studios, aquarium and waterworld. Hotels on sentosa cost a fortune so this was a great deal and less than the hotel i was looking at so we were off. We landed in singapore around 1pm and easily caught a cab to sentosa and our room was ready - fabulous! It has been 3 years since we've been to singapore so we thought we'd spend the afternoon wandering around the island and see what is happening. Man, this is the place to be! There is so much to do :) we walked up to the merlion and explained to the kids the history behind this, then walked up ... read more

Today we were awake early, not by choice but in anticipation of the day. We were up at 7:00am and didn't and didn't have to meet until 8:15am for breakfast. As it turned out it was just Bec and I for breakfast as the other two didn't show. We wandered across to the place where we'd had breakfast a few days earlier, still just as delish! Then Bec messaged Garath who met us back in the hotel lobby to catch a cab out to the mountain to do the cable car across to Sentosa Island. While Bec had a smoke I went into the bathrooms and they had a big glass wall with the view of Sentosa. It was amazing. We jumped on the cable car ... read more

We were up at 7:40am to meet at 8:45am today to head out to the MegaZip at Sentosa Island. We walked down to Dhoby Ghaut Station, jumped on the purple line to Harbour Front Station where we had some McDonalds for breakfast then changed trains to the Sentosa Express. We got off on the island, got lost and then found our way finally to the Adventure Park. We started with getting our harness fitted then walked up the hill toward the ropes course. Well, it was all smiles until I started. I did two sections shaking like crazy before I got to the 2nd pit stop and could barely make myself go any further, only problem was there was no way down. Once you start, you ... read more

Today, I wake up for breakfast. The hostel has free breakfast consisting of fruit, toast with pots of peanut butter, chocolate spread, butter and kaya (coconut jam) and a cuppa. I decided I was going to head for Sentosa Island today (an island resort south of Singapore). I got the tube to Harbour Point then caught the bus into Sentosa. It was a lovely sunny day. I did not realise it was going to be like a Disney World without the Disney, including Universal Studios. But still, it was nice just wandering around. I met a man named Ruhan from Sri Lanka as he asked me to take his photo, then got chatting and we ended up walking down to the beach together. I wanted to lose him after a while and I was getting antsy ... read more

Saturday, 13th July 2013 We have a magnificent natural harbour, one of the finest in the world. A ride in a cable car will provide the visitor with a magnificent panorama of the harbour. It will, I hope, at the same time make Singaporeans more conscious and more proud of their city, whose economic life blood flow through this great port." Dr Goh Keng Swee (15th February 1974) I woke up on Saturday morning thankful that I didn't have to go back to the office. Before long, I had put on my walking shoes and headed straight to the Cable Car Museum in Sentosa to continue with my museum-quests in Singapore. I chanced upon this museum on someone's blog the other day. He was telling that the admission was free even though the brochures stated that ... read more
