A wonderful, clean, multi-cultural country. :) Photos taken during my first and second visit to Singapore. I was fascinated with the beauty and cleanliness of the city. I could walk around from Lady Hill through Orange Grove Road all the way to Borders Bookstore and drop by Mcdonald's for my favorite french fries on my white soled sandals and still come home unbelievably white. It is probably the safest place I can imagine. Tourists can walk around holding state of the art gadgets without fear of anyone ever trying to take it away from them. I regret having lost my Nokia N70 phone when I returned to Manila as it had most of the other videos and photos I took on board the Cable Car. Having gone through that, Singapore still has left good memories in ... read more
Singapore, Celebrations & Some Serious Luxury
Published: April 14th 2012Asia » Singapore » Sentosa Island » Siloso BeachI catch the 5 hour bus from KL to Singapore and I'm in luxury already! Big wide comfy reclining seats, air con that actually works, no music blaring, no karoke... No motorbikes/cucumbers/breastfeeding women in the aisles... I'm on my way back to Singapore and don't I know it! The journey is smooth, crossing borders out of Malaysia and into Singapore is a simple transition of getting off the bus, walking through a huge immigration hall with 127 desks all open waiting to stamp you're passport (Heathrow & Stansted take note!) I breeze through in 5 minutes, am back on the bus and within an hour arrive at Beach Road. I flag a cab to take me to Sentosa Island where my parents are staying, as they're visiting me for a holiday. "Shangri-La Sentosa" I say to ... read more
Today I got up, had breakfast and got ready to go to underwater world. When I arrived at underwater world, it looked like a massive house, and there was a big blue shark out the front and a couple big yellow umbrellas. Within in the 5 or so minutes I was lined up outside, the line just kept getting bigger and bigger. When I entered underwater would all I could see was blue. I was kind of like AQWA back in Perth, but it was way bigger! When I got the moving belt thing, I just sat down on the belt and looked up, it was magnificent! There were millions of fish everywhere, and there was a diver feeding the sharks and the rest of the fish. I wanted to go feed the sharks but I ... read more
Today I wanted to go back to orchard but I decided to leave that to tomorrow, so today I decided to go to sightseeing around Singapore. One of the main tourist’s attractions in Singapore is the white lion statue. The white lion statue spits water out of its mouth. I also got to see the dragon fountain, a I went to the Jurong Bird Park, which was beautiful, there were millions of birds and I even got to hold one. After that I went to Kent Ride Park, which is a 47 hectare, park that has the most magnificent views of the off-shore islands such as the Pulau Duran Darat. It was really peaceful at the park it was lovely because Singapore is a really busy place and the park is the only place in Singapore ... read more
My next day in Singapore, was also really hot, I decided I would go the universal studios. After I had breakfast and got ready it was 10:30am. I got in taxi, but to get to universal studios, I had to go to Sentosa, Island, which was a far drive from my hotel. About a 2 hour drive. When I arrived the queue was quiet long. The theme park was split into 7 parts; far far away, the lost world, ancient Egypt, sci-fi city, New York, Hollywood and Madagascar. I decided to go to Hollywood first because it was the closest. The Hollywood zone replicates the beautiful buildings of the 1940. When I was in “Hollywood” I watched the live Broadway performance called “Monstrocity” at the Pantages theatre. The streets of “Hollywood” are also lined with unique ... read more

Singapore - The Jewel Box Cableway and Sentosa Island
Published: March 6th 2012Asia » Singapore » Sentosa Island » Siloso BeachJEWEL BOX CABLEWAY & SENTOSA ISLAND,SINGAPORE. Saturday 3 March, 2012. For our last day in Singapore (and our first day on the ship) we had already decided that we would visit Sentosa Island. The island can be accessed by road, but another way of getting there is to take the Jewel Box Cableway which is very touristy and expensive but was another of Dick and Patsy's recommendations. We had left it until today as the Cableway Station is actually adjacent to the Cruise Terminal so we thought we could easily get there without having to take the tube or a bus. The Cruise Terminal also has a massive shopping centre attached to it, so we had hoped to do some last minute shopping before leaving Singapore. The best laid plans.... Unbeknown to us, the ship had ... read more
Photo Collection 12: Vibrant Island, Singapore
Published: February 25th 2011Asia » Singapore » Sentosa Island » Siloso BeachI lived in Singapore for a year from 2008 – 2009. I actually didn’t know much about this city-state before I headed down. The nation was quite lively as opposed to its size of the island. Their GDP growth rate, TV news said, was 14.7% last year. Maybe growing faster than China??... read more
After a lengthy conversation yesterday, with Mum and Dad, we were convinced to take a trip to the island they stayed at during their trip to Singapore. Sentosa Island lies 500mtres off the south coast of Singapore. The entire island is a resort, composed of imported sand, casinos, Universal Studios, spas; the list goes on! I was 100% sure we weren’t going to discover the “real” Singapore here, as we glided across the monorail tracks in a bright green train. “This place is weird” we both muttered as we stepped as we disembarked and passed a seafront theatre and then a luge. It was like steeping into Disney Land! We kicked off our shoes and made our way onto the imported sand beach which was dotted with palm trees. We read a sign about the ... read more
Saturday was spent on Sentosa Island just off the southern end of Singapore. We travelled across to the island via the Jewel Cable Car which we jumped on at Faber Hill which takes you into the center of Santosa. Santosa is a entertainment Center with attractions such as Universal Studios, Underwater Aquarium, Sky tower, gGolf course and Hotels. We started our day with a dip in the sea at Silso Beach before heading to the Underwater Aquarium. It seams that the trend of ramming as many people as you can into a small area is not just promoted by the likes of Chesington and Thorpe park as we could hardly move or see half the tanks due to the massive crowds. Did get close to dolphins after show but typically camera battery died. The kids did ... read more
The high life in Singapore
Published: April 23rd 2010Asia » Singapore » Sentosa Island » Siloso BeachI arrived very weary and disgustingly dirty at 2am at the Hilton International on Orchard Road, Singapore’s première shopping district. I chuckled at my reflection in the marble studded floor and perfectly reflective tiled walls as I stuck out like a gross sore thumb! After a cheery hello to my mum I clambered into the plush cushiony bed, underneath the aircon, in front of the TV and fell into a very happy sleep. The first day we spent doing nothing but talking and eating; my two favourite things. I had a huge buffet breakfast and continued the tradition every morning I was here. The second day my mum had off work, we spent the day on Sentosa Island, a beach resort off the south east coast of Singapore. Two days without swimming in the sea proved ... read more
