Marina Bay Financial Centre
The far left is our apartment building and the one on the right is our office.
We live on the 17th floor and the office is on the 44th floor.
In March 2011 we moved to Singapore with all the apprehension of a young couple moving to Asia. Would we enjoy the humidity and heat? Where would we find a good coffee? And in the absence of a real beach, rolling hills, wineries and the café culture of Melbourne, what would we do on weekends???
Lucky for us all of those questions were answered almost immediately. Although holding true to the clichés of being clean, safe and sterile, Singapore is rapidly becoming a melting pot of eastern and western culture with much more appeal to the Expat than the likes of Hong Kong having a visibly stronger Chinese influence.
The post independence government, lead by
Lee Kuan Yew and the people action party has managed to turn Singapore into one of the strongest economies of the early 21
st century and the fastest growing economy in the world today. With four national languages and a bias towards English commercially it has not taken long for the city to develop its own modern vibrancy. There is a booming market for arts and culture as diverse as the people living here and its central location within the Asia region makes for some

Marina Bay
Our building is on the bottom right. We have a pretty spectacular view of the Bay!
fascinating and at time amusing weekend adventures.
