Longganisang Lucban
Hanging by the streets of Lucban are meat sausages called Longganisa. Don't leave Lucban without having a taste of this delicacy.
It was our LOJ Esther Summer Outing when I got to see Lucban, Quezon. We rented two vans that took us to the province, which is at the southeastern portion of Luzon. Quezon is considered as the country's sixth largest province.
The resort, Villa Senor, was on top of a hill. There, we spent most of our time singing together, playing parlor games like kids, playing basketball, and swimming at their pools. The day after, we heard mass at the Church of St. Louis of Toulouse. That church was so old, I can see moss and other plants growing out of its crevices from everywhere. It was built in 1593.
We went shopping for Longganisang Lucban (pork sausage), which is quite smelly, we had to wrap it in lots of newspaper so as not to annoy ourselves while in the van going home. We had Pancit Habhab (noodles) which is served on a small piece of banana leaf that is cut to fit one's palm. We add a little vinegar on the pancit then eat it as is, from the leaf... no fork whatsoever. Interesting.
On our way back to Manila, we made a side trip to Laguna.
We went to Taytay Falls in Majayjay, Laguna... more popularly known as Majayjay Falls. We had to walk for more then 1 kilometer to see the falls. The paved walkway was narrow; there was a stream of water along with it. On the way, one would notice that the place is so crowded. There were tents and cooking pans all over. It was noisy, people brought karaoke to the place. The walk was worth it, though. It was a challenge to walk through the slippery boulders in order to get closer to the basin of the falls. The water was cold and CLEAR. The water came from the forests in Mount Banahaw. People were jumping from the top of the falls, others were quite fun to watch because they were making somersaults. It was a pretty sight. I was grateful the water was clear despite the many people who bath in it.
