El BuseroEl BuseroEl Busero

I LOVE the wicker hammocks!
Today we rolled out of bed around 11 or 12, had a wonderfully overpriced pizza at our place, and took a leisurely stroll along the beach with Emma and Rosie. It wasn't warm enough to go kayaking and kept sprinkling off and on, so we decided to just relax. We actually found some cool ruins at the top of the hill that seemed to once be a resort...it had paved walkways and steps with smoothed stones inset and what was once a public bathroom with two or three holes in between sky blue tiles where sinks used to be next to small partitions where the toilets once were.

After seeing this bit and some of the local's houses, we bought a bottle of Superior rum for 258 (it was 200 in Cebu) and went to our hotel to crack it open. Not too long after we heard drumming and the lady at our place told us to come see the street dancing. We had just missed them down our street so we went to wait for them at the next one. They were celebrating their high school's foundation day with dancing, a parade, and a social in the evening for

the alums. The kids were dressed in black and had also painted any exposed skin black and were wearing skirts with red stripes on the front and yellow stripes on the back.

Here's a video of the parade:
and the video for the dancing in the field:

We watched the parade and followed them to their field and watched their show for a bit before heading back to El Busero. There we found Emma and Rosie and played cards with them for a while before heading to Summer Homes to try and use their wifi. It was super slow so we left and went to Sunset at the end of the beach -- one of the few places still open since it was now past 11 pm. Tomorrow is an early morning, so 11:30ish was about our cutoff...hope all goes well tomorrow and the roads aren't too soaked!
