I'm now 2 weeks behind on blogs, thanks to limited internet access on Palawan, but I'm not giving up! Many more to come. There isn't that much to say about Cebu City... it really isn't much of a tourist destination, more of a layover city. We decided to stay two nights anyway, and made the most of it, but two nights was definitely enough. When we got off the boat from Bohol it was already late afternoon, so we made a bee-line to our hotel. Our taxi driver said his meter was broken, and tried to charge us 200 pesos, but when I threatened to report him he turned on the meter and it only cost 50 pesos to get there. Our hotel (Allson's Inn) was actually pretty nice but it is in a kind of ... read more

So how to describe the PI? AMAZING? BEAUTIFUL? MIND BLOWING? I started off my trip in Cebu City where I was really surprised to find out that the 2nd largest city in the Philippines is a big slum with a few huge shopping malls - a place to seek refuge from the ghetto, nothing more. I met up with a friend of a friend who showed me around town and then the next day we headed out to the west coast of Cebu Island to a place called MoalBoal. Not a bad spot - Went snorkeling, tanning, and just relaxing! I met another friend there and then the following morning headed to Dumaguete in Negros Oriental which is also in the Visayas but one island over. I think that I would only recommend Dumeguete as a ... read more

Well here we are with only four days left.... We are currently in Cebu City in the Philippines.. but this isn't going to be a long post just yet. Just a short one with some of our culinary adventures and weird things that we've encountered. In a few days I'll post a looonnnnnnnnnng and final post to tell everyone about the last let of the trip! Here we go.. lets start off with just some odd observations I've made: Toilets: Toilet seats in India and Nepal were ALWAYS broken, so in the off chance that you're in a place (your hotel that you know is cleaned daily) where you can actually sit down, you nearly fall into the toilet every time. On the contrary, toilet seats in the Philippines have proven to be nonexistent most of ... read more

Cebu to Ilioilo (Panay) and Iloilo to Puerto Princesa (Palwan)...all by ferry! You are probably thinking why would you get 2 ferries taking a total of nearly 40 hours when you can get such cheap flights nowadays! Little did I know that May Day celebrations meant that the cost of flights went up dramatically and considering i am on a small budget after being away for nearly 8 months i couldn't afford the 8000 pesos that were being quoted. I could have waited in Cebu until 8th May but that was a week and i didn't fancy being holed up in Cebu city so decided to explore other options which there was only one! I bought a ticket taking me from Cebu to Iloilo on the overnight ferry leaving at 7pm arriving at 8am the next ... read more

Hi all. Currently in Cebu City in the Visayas with sadly only a few more days left in the Philippines. Currently staying at a friends flat who I met in Palawan which is handy. So the last time i wrote i had one more nite left in Puerto Princesa, had a tower of power and a few Red horses(Philippino stella) was a good nite. So got my flight the next day from Puerto Princesa - Cebu City, pretty easy, got a cab from the airport, but be warned there is a taxi station which charges a considerable amount more than if you get a metered taxi form the airport, which I sadly found out. So my hint would be ask the guards to point you in the direction of the metered cabs. So arrived in Cebu ... read more

Finishing blog the following week recapping. Well, it is now Monday again and I have to really take the time to remember everything I did within the last few days. Time flies faster the speed of light once you cross a certain time in your life you know the quarter century old mark? Yes that’s where it suddenly goes 0-950 mph in .5 seconds and then you stop to reflect after the fact that it’s too late. That is why I definitely take each day more seriously conjoined with not taking myself too seriously. Who should take themselves too seriously? Just do your job well, don’t hurt anyone around you and have fun. Being interns here at Bigfoot, part of our job is to be prepared to shoot even if it’s last minute and last Wednesday ... read more

Saturday afternoon we went and shot at a place called Mactan Oasis approximately ten minutes from Bigfoot for a couple more scenes. Kiss came and met up with us as well since she was my ‘supporting actress’ in this scene. We shot at this abandon building that I couldn’t quite figure out if it was still under construction, being reconstructed or taken down. It had this distinct feeling to it since it was so industrial yet sits along side a main road in this gated apartment complex. It’s a fabulous place to shoot for something raw and edgy. I started getting ideas in my head for a shoot, but quickly went back to my primary reason of being there, and that’s to play my character, Bailey. It was a great location as we were the ... read more

1. Learn more about the special bond Phlippinos have to prisoners. Unlike in Palawan where you can go see prisoners work on a farm, in Cebu City you can go watch them dance hip hop. They promise you mass murderers! Now if that's not an enterprising approach to tourism then what is? Serial rapists square dancing? 2. Do the sights in like 5 minutes. Then get completely lost and wander around for six hours in blazing heat. When you finally get to Osmana Fuente Circle, from where you know how to get home, realize that the only proper landmark in the city, a Casino tower, which you've been seeing all along, is there in the circle. 3. Have one those only in the Philippines candle lit dinners at a restaurant complex that is more like a ... read more

This is also the time that we get together and reunite. Our trip is always exciting because we travel at night. It is always a night trip that we choose because we arrive there in the morning and vice versa. My birthpalce Silay City in Negros Occidental is a good place to spend Christmas Vacation.
