From London with LoveThanks again to Almira and Janusz, here's the digicam, minus the boyfriend who's still on the way via British Airways.
From London with Love
By Ariel Allera
Sometime in January, my London-based cousin Almira Allera Baginski and I chatted here on Facebook. She said that she and her husband Janusz Baginski were going to send a pair of shoes that I could wear each day to work, and of course, I admitted to being touched by the couple's thoughtfulness, because I had already received five pairs of leather shoes from them two Christmases ago. What more could I ask for? She asked if it's O.K. that they'd also include a digital camera in the package. What? I honestly couldn't help crying no, since all the shoes were more than enough, and I was already overwhelmed with gratitude for everything.
When Almira asked what I really wanted, I said , "A British boyfriend would be fine, because I find the accent delicious. Actually, any foreign guy will do, as long as he's responsible, family-oriented and willing to love my family too, sensible, respectful of my faith in God, an eloquent writer, and certainly not a brute."
Thanks again to Almira and Janusz, here's the digicam, minus the boyfriend who's still on
From London with LoveAlthough I secretly dreamed to have a digicam that I could call my own, I didn't pray hard enough for it, and yet God provided me with this lovely one. Praise the Lord!
the way via British Airways. Lol!
Kidding aside, I'm afraid to lose my heart again, after being bruised mentally and emotionally in my past relationships. Although it would be sweet to fall in love again, but truthfully, to have a boyfriend is no longer something that I'd whine about if ever there's nobody there out to make me feel loved.
God is the source of true love, and I'm too blessed to deserve all of it that I experience in every breath I take, in my family's divine peace, in the presence of a special few persons I consider true friends, in the minds of the myriad pals out there, and in "... all the things that I've seen, learned, and experienced..." (thanks to Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta for this nugget of wisdom I lifted from her farewell speech as Fa Femina Miss India-Universe 2000).
Let me use this space to thank some kind-hearted souls—Scott Summers, Noeme Vilvestre, Alma Allera Pimentel, Jerome Allosada, my cousin-brother Ramil Villaruel and her wife Myrnamee Lindayao Villaruel—for lending me their priced possession every time I needed to capture the most significant moments in my life. Words would never be enough to thank them for their trust in me during those years I had nothing to use. Although I secretly dreamed to have a digicam that I could call my own, I didn't pray hard enough for it, and yet God provided me with this lovely one courtesy of my very thoughtful cousin Almira and her ever supportive better-half Janusz.
Thanks also and again to another cousin who's based in Hong Kong, Editha Paloma Allera, for my laptop, and my cousin-in-law James Pimentel for my mobile phone—through which I could upload my photos, share my thoughts, express my emotions, and let the whole world know that I'm proud of these people for their selflessness.
