The Storm Rages @Club Balai Isabel
Published: August 30th 2011Asia » Philippines » Batangas » TalisayTaal Volcano. Taal Lake. Easily, a local here would think Tagaytay City where one can view the volcano and the lake from the ridge. But I wanted to bring my family to go volcano trekking, so off we went to Talisay's Club Balai Isabel, a resort built by the shores of Taal Lake. Stormy Weather Over A Long Weekend The storm was a mood killer. A holiday spoiler. It was a long 4-day weekend for my working girls and school-going grandchildren. It also happened that one of the girls is celebrating her birthday. We booked ourselves at Club Balai Isabel weeks ahead and planned to do the lake cruise and volcano trek. Kayaking near the lakeshore or trying out one of those pedal-pushing water vehicles within a roped area of the lake. Biking. But that was ... read more
"Taal Volcano has been called the smallest active volcano in the world. It is located about 70 km south of Manila in the middle of a lake called Taal Lake. What makes Taal Volcano unique is the fact that the volcano itself forms an island that has a lake of its own inside the crater which is called the "Crater Lake", thus it is a lake within a lake." the volcano island can be reached by taking a half hour boat ride from any town on the shores of Taal Lake but the most popular jumpoff point is from the town of Talisay. -EPPGarcia the adventure: we left manila at 6am and were stucked in traffic in bacoor, cavite. after 2 and a half hours drive, we finally reached tagaytay.. we drove going to talisay, batangas ... read more
It was a bright morning of June 7, 2007, when the group decided to experience trekking in Taal Volcano, the smallest volcano in the world. The trip was pushed through as planned on June 9, 2007 gathering at exactly 5:00 dawn and meeting at MCDO Quezon Avenue-EDSA for a brief coffee and hot choco. Surprisingly, all the members of the trekkers were on time and were off the road at 5:30am. At 8:00 am we were already in Tagaytay, City, a place for a romantic honeymooooon. The road travel from Tagaytay to Talisay was a bit dangerous because of the steep cliff around the bend. There is an alternate longer route along EDSA exiting in south superhighway, a safer route than the steep-cliff via Tagaytay-Talisay. There are plenty offerors of boat ride along our way ... read more
Tales from Taal: Poop Island
Published: October 10th 2006Asia » Philippines » Batangas » Talisay » Taal VolcanoWaking up at around 4am in the morning was a major pain in the bum. After all, we were up, whole day and night frolicking the highlands of Tagaytay. Plus, it's so frigging cold! It's so nice to sleep, cuddled up inside a warm blanket and dream in a lucid state. But, we couldn't. We needed to get up so we can hike Taal Volcano before we encounter the morning heat of the sun. Another thing was that our reservation at the Taal Lake Yacht Club (TLYC) for our boat and guide was at 6am. By 5am, we checked out of the inn and started deciphering our map to Talisay, Batangas. Before we reached Picnic Grove, we saw a sign leading to Talisay. Along with it were a couple or more men asking us if we ... read more
