Pakistan; Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Multan, Lahore
Day 25- Karachi, Pakistan
With the intention of avoiding the Afghanistan border we flew from Iran to Pakistan. Taking 2,5hours from Tehran to Karachi we were greeted into a warm but colourful country. Thankfully we were allowed to remove our headscarfs, it was only in religious places we needed to put them back on again. We were given police escorts throughout our stay in Pakistan, which felt slightly unnerving at the beginning but we quickly got accustomed to it… now I know what it feels like to be a celeb…
After meeting our local tour guide Amjad we were given a tour of Karachi and saw the guard change at Quaid-e-Azam's Mausoleum, we later got an opportunity to dip our feet in the sea at Clifton Beach and have a sneaky Mc Donalds. Lucky that we did as dinner was spicy beyond words, as if the weather wasn’t hot enough I couldn’t be eating food that would make me sweat even more than I was.
Day 26- Hyderabad, Pakistan
With a full day drive time we got to make acouple stop offs. Firstly we visited Makli’s Historical graveyard that covers
15 kilometers, and is said to contain over one million tombs. We then went on a boat ride to cool down before arriving at our hotel for the evening.
Day 27- Sukkur, Pakistan
With another full day of driving in the extreme heat there wasn’t much to do other then sleep. We had one stop over where we visited Mohenjo-daro (Mound of the Dead) this city was built around 2600 BCE, and known as one of the early urban settlements in the world.
After a stroke of the heat of around 45-50 degrees I was so ill I couldn’t bear to be outside any longer, every time I got out of the aircon bus I would feel like I was going to faint. As soon as we made it to the hotel I didn’t dare leave my room.
Day 28- Multan, Pakistan
We had a full days drive with the police escort still on our tail. We only had a few toilet and food stops before arriving at our final destination by early afternoon. We weren’t allowed to leave the hotel due to safety reasons, tbh I couldn’t even if I wanted to. Abby had a
traditional massage, it was quite entertaining to watch. I had yogurt and water and tried to sleep off my heat stroke.
Day 29-31 Lahore, Pakistan
We had 3 free days in Lahore, I attempted to join in with the city tour of Badshahi Mosque and the Shahi Quia Fort but I had pull out half way through as I just couldn’t handle the heat. So unfortunately the last 2 days in Pakistan was spent in the aircon hotel room.
It was a shame that I couldn’t make the most of my time in Pakistan, it was unfortunate that the weather was so extreme, maybe next time I’ll come a different time of year.. Now onto India..

Sorry to hear you suffered from the heat - suppose every country is different in many ways. Had the feeling that Pakistan looks much better than the previous country - except for the heat - wrong time of the year! Never mind you have been there - better than nothing. Carry on.... love M x
Another great blog. :) There is a lot of political trouble in Pakistan at the moment too. Glad you didnt encounter any of it, appart from the presence of armed guards. Looking forward to your blogs about India. I have been there 3 times. I love visiting India. It is quite an experience. Mel
Its a shame that the heat was so extreme that you weren't able to enjoy too much of Pakistan but well done for seeing the places that you did. Thank you for sharing the pics with us.
