Had a fairly average nights sleep because it was so dammned cold. It wasn't cold enough to snow, yet my minus ten degree sleping bag just wasn't up to the task. I ended up wearing thermals & another layer & still wasn't toasty. I'm beginning to think it isn't really the best quality sleping bag & will try to get an extra blanket at each teahouse. That may prove difficult in some places though, as it is peak tourist season & Ashok says they quite often don't have enought to go around.

We began trekking around 8:30am & stopped after around three hours for lunch. Unfortunately about half an hour in my blisters began. I made do with bandaids, but they didn't sem to help much & I'll have to get something more substantial for tomorrow. After lunch we walked another three hours (mostly uphill) & arrived in Namche Bazaar (3440m) mid to late afternoon. For the last two hours the weather turned cold & finally began snowing about an hour from Namche. Because the climb was so strenuous, it didn't feel cold enough to snow & my waterproof poncho kept me nice & dry. It was very beautiful &

quite surreal to be rambling along in the middle of nowhere in the snow.

After settling in at the teahouse we had dinner, played cards & I wrote my journal for the remainder of the evening. It was a fairly early night for everybody as we were all tired from today's long walk. Also, the sun goes down quite early & there isn't much to do but hang out in the teahouses because it's so cold outside. Sam & I have decided to hire down jackets for the remainder of the trip because we figured if it's cold enough to snow at 3440 metres, it's only going to get worse higher up & our thermals & fleece just aren't going to do the job adequately.
