Arrived at Chitwan National Park on Saturday, a lovely place , and a whole world away from the chaos of Kathmandu.
Didn't feel too good on Saturday evening, I think it was a case of severe man-flu ( or common cold) and as a consequence didn't feel too bright having to get up at 5.30 on Sunday to go canoeing!.
The canoeing was great, apart from the torrential downpour that seemed to start as soon as I got in the canoe, and promptly stopped when I got out at the other end.
After the canoeing we had a 3hr trek back through the grasslands to the lodge, which was fine, but the only wildlife we managed to see was a single wild chicken!!
On Sunday afternoon, we got to ride around the National Park on the back of elephants. This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, added to by not only the sight of a Rhino, but then our elephant going up to it and starting to tease it with it's trunk - no contest really - the rhino ran off in the end, but it was quite a sight.
We have got a cultural evening tonight - I'll let you know what that turns out to be about next time!!

Come on Trev, the only culture you know is the one that grows like yeast in yer socks. Could the local culture out there really tolerate you at your best? And what did the elephant do to deserve you behind it's lugs eh?
Good to see you enjoying life, but I'm really waiting to see what the "cultural" diet experience in that part of the world is gonna do to your "waste" line.
Keep 'em a comin'!
It sounds like your trip has been eventful to date & you have only just started. Have you had the opportunity to buy a new camera yet - would have thought it is very important on a trip like this.
Anyway - sure you are not missing work yet, it is a trip that most of us would only dream about.
Keep the log going
