29 - 30 September
Seeing that it is my 5th time in KL, I relaxed and didn do a whole lot. Walked around the lake gardens a bit, bought a new shirt. Just took in all the sounds, smells and sights of Asia that Id missed.
And waited. Waited till the 1st of October on which I was going to pick up my travel buddy.
01 October
Arrival time was 14:30. I think it was after 15:30 when I finally saw Zhu coming through the doors.
Pfff, the anticipation! Glad he was finally there, we took the bus back into Chinatown and just relaxed, had some food, checked out Jalan Petaling and enjoyed being back together.
02 - 03 October
Together we went to KL bird park, Suria KLCC and the adjoining towers and Batu cave.
Unfortunately both our cameras batteries were flat at the bird park, which was a shame because despite the high entrance fee it was very beautiful, especially the walk-in parrot aviary, where we had them sitting on our heads and shoulders.
The monkeys at Batu were still as cheeky as two years ago, when I was there for the first time.
Had to drag Zhu away from Suria KLCC of course, whos totally into shopping.
That night we went to a bar on Jalan Sultan Ismail. Its the oldest men only bar in KL and around midnight it started packing up. Then suddenly around 00:30 or so the lights turned on and the music off.
Just before on the street we had already heard about bars being raided in KL, and guess what? We were in the middle of one! The whole thing lasted about 45 minutes. Everybodys ID card was taken (except of us foreigners of course) and later one by one called out and given back.
Later we heard that was the third time that week for this particular bar!
On Saturday night we took the night bus to Mersing that was supposed to arrive at 6 in the morning, but actually did so at 3:30 am! We were met by an elderly couple, very friendly that drove us to the harbour.
There we were given each a straw mat which we could deposit on the tiled floor. Despite not having slept on this extremely cold bus, I still couldn manage more than an hour or so thanks to loud techno music coming from the one stall still open at the port. Zhu slept like a baby of course.
