Hello after such a long time away from my blogging duties!!!
We’ve completed our Australia adventure and are back in Asia. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to be exact. It is much more humid here. Ah well.
We had a freakin’ blast in Australia and big thanks to our friends James and Jade to host us and show us around Perth.
You’ll find that I finally got some new pictures up!
Wow, I know! This is the first real picture upload since Hong Kong, I think and that seems like about 15 years ago.
I’m going to have to go back and add the Cambodia and Thailand pictures later on, but for now I wanted to get the Aussie pics up since we had such a great time and we figured that a lot of people back home are more curious about Australia than SE Asia.
You’ll find a lot of pictures of us around Perth City as well as our 9 day Camper Van rental adventure, driving through the Southwestern corner of Australia.
The pictures are, again, a bit out of order as the uploading process involves me loading mine and Alicen’s pictures separately.
Oh well, you’ll figure it out. If there’s a lot of pictures of me in a row, Alicen took those and vice versa.
We visited some really amazing places around Oz; including the southern Hemisphere’s longest Jetty (2km long), the SW tip of Oz where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, a giant tree-top forest walk (I had no idea they had such tall tress down there!), Wave Rock-a really cool sandstone formation out in the desert-that was unfortunately infested with really aggressive flies that firmly believed that my eyes, mouth, and nose were appropriate landing platforms; you’ll see us wearing makeshift fly masks in some later pictures, and a wildlife park where we got to pet koalas and hand feed kangaroos.
We also had a lot of great BBQ’s, gained some of the weight back we lost traipsing around Asia, chilled with friends at a leisurely-Australian pace, and while we’re really excited to get back on the road and see what the world has in store for us next, it was sad to leave a country that felt so much like home.
That being said, it is exciting to continue on. We’ve passed the 2
month plateau about a week ago and we officially reach the half-way point of the trip in about a week when we go to India.
In the meantime, we’ll be in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow and head back to Bangkok (for the 4th time this trip!) on Saturday, then leave Thailand next Thursday morning for New Delhi.
Alicen and I were really happy we decided to add Australia to the trip, even though it has been by far the most expensive country to visit. Back in Malaysia today and the prices are already feeling much more reasonable.
Overall, we are doing wonderfully. Alicen is doing great (if a bit sleepy and hitting the hay early tonight while I type) and, like me, thinks Australia is probably the best country we’ve visited yet. You guys should go there, it is neat.
Only three more months and we’ll be home!
Word.
