I've received some comments from several people reminding me of my travel date. "September 11th.. ooooh.. you're flying on september 11th". Yeah, so ? To be honest, I don't think anything would happen again on september 11th. If you're a terrorist, I reckon you'd pretty much be a shite one if you plan your actions on the same date.
I didn't see anything outside of the usual at the airport, except that my luggage went missing. I was supposed to pick up my bag upon arrival in Amsterdam and check in again. No worries, I thought. And I waited. And waited. And waited until the screen said 'all bags delivered'. Oh fab !
As I waited for my flight to KL, all the while worrying about losing my bag and ending up having to buy half a wardrobe worth of clothes, I wondered. What's so bloody fantastic about Amsterdam airport anyway ? People are always having a go at Heathrow and talk about it as if it's a leper colony. "Oh no, not Heathrow, I want to go via Amsterdam". They say in Heathrow the walking distances are too long, security is too tight and customs are too strict. Bunch of lazy bums ! So are the walking distances in Schiphol. Securitywise, it's about the same everywhere nowadays. And as for the customs, it's even worse, I'm telling ya. So sod it, I'd prefer Heathrow over Schiphol anytime. So why din't I go via London ? Simple reason. Flight was fully booked. And sitting on the wings freezing my arse off just didn't seem too appealing really. Lol.
Missing your luggage is not a pleasant experience to say the least. The first thing you wish to do when you come out of an intercontinental flight is have a shower, but in this case you can't cause you don't have clean clothes to wear after. Wonderful, isn't it ? I didn't see the point in having a shower only to put on dirty clothes again so I kept it to what my mum would call a 'kitty bath' and waited in misery for my bag to arrive. The man at lost and found said it's been expedited on the second flight out of Amsterdam and will arrive later in the day. He said he will 'try' his best to deliver my bag asap. Try ? Ah the brave lad, risking his life like that. I suggested him to 'do' his best. It worked, I got my luggage an hour earlier than planned. Yay !
