KL never ceases to amuse me. 2 days ago I took a taxi at the far corner of BB street and asked the driver to take me to Kelana Jaya in the outskirts of KL. Seafood centre in KJ of course cause no taxi driver will ever say "Oh yeah, I know where it is" when you say Jalan SS 7/13 (street name where I was staying). My cab driver though didn't even know where the KJ seafood center was. He said "KJ right ? I'll drive via bla bla bla, and then go through bla bla bla". Eehhm, I don't know hey, you're the cabdriver ! So I said "Yes when you get to KJ, I'll show you the way". He then went on about the bla di bla place again, so I thought yeah fine whatever. He seemed to be driving in the right direction though so I didn't mind the road too much. Which gave me ample time to notice other details such as his driving abilities. This guy, I'm telling you, should've been the number one race car driver in Malaysia. So so fast, but not in a dangerous sense. Just very skillful. The only thing that
disturbed the image of him being the Malaysian Schuhmacher was the Nissan he was driving. Not exactly your typical Formula 1 Ferrari, is it ? Or anything similar. Then I noticed his right hand over the steering wheel, and the huge scorpion tattoo on it. From the style and the somewhat fading ink, I'd say it was a bad jobby from the 80's. Which could well be right as it matched his hairstyle. Ponytail ! This dude could well be teleported from 1982. Either that or he was looking to win the national Steven Seagal look alike competition. He was chinese by the way, which was why I thought a Jacky Chan look would've been more realistic.
Anyway, just when I thought things couldn't get funnier, he then turned the radio on and started singing along, and quite loudly I might add, to the blaring sound of what I suspected was Boyzone. I almost died laughing. Hilarious. The chap whizzed me to my destination in half the normal time though, so I was well pleased. He ripped me off for an extra MYR10 after that, but hey it was defo worth the show.

MonorailThe time I went on the right platform.
days ago, and in Malaysia it's a big thing. It's a month where the 'take it easy' spirit rules. Work stops an hour earlier each day which is really helpful as I can't seem to shake the jet lag off. There are downsides to the fasting month too however. In the evening it's quite difficult to get a taxi as the muslim drivers are all at home with their families. But once you do get one, you're in for an easy ride down the highway which, trust me, doesn't happen often in KL.
Oh, here's something embarrassing. After being here for the jillionth time, I still managed to wait for the monorail on the wrong platform. Sad, isn't it ? Lol.
I've just got word that my friend Natasja has given birth to a beautiful daughter. Baby Lily was born 2 days ago around 11pm and is blessed with the healthy weight of 3.150kg for her 49 cms. Both she and her mummy are in excellent condition. Congrats to the De Boeck family for the latest addition to their clan ! I can't wait to meet her. Ellen, mail me a photo pleaaaase !
