I can't put in the right country from my phone so it will be incorrect for a while.
My waterproof shoes were starting to fall apart as the sole separated but i am Mr. Prepared. I brought a tent patch kit and the seam glue worked quite well although i had to switch to sandals for a few days.
I was originally planning to go to bako park but did not have enough time unless i only did a short trip and used taxi thecwhole way (expensive). So i took it easy and wandered around town. Bought a tshirt of sarawak andqthen taxi'd with a polish couple to the airport. Along the way i had a philosophical discussion with the taxi driver about religions, Libya ' and the merits of various socio-politico-economical ideologies. Flight to pontianak was fine. Was just about to pass through customs when a guard looked at my passport and noticed the Chinese visas. I got passed along up to the guy in charge. They were fixed on the Chinese visa. Then as if all of a sudden i was an immediate threat one guard raised his automatic gun atvme. Another guard grabbed my small bag, looked around
at the outside as if to verify there was no bmob on the outside. They did not look inside my bags although i had gone through several routine security checks before this stage. They patted me down, looked at me with a big grin and said 'No problem'. Never found out was the fuss was over.
My flight was quite late and while waiting i met an American couple with their mother and the a local army officer who wanted to practice English. Upon arriving in Jakarta the army officer, benni had his gf and her family pick us up and drove me to where i was going to need my friend from last time: Tatang.
I met up with Tatang who showed me to his favourite corner food stall. I ate the Indonesian equivalent of pea soup and some drink made from condensed milk, ginger, boiling water and some other sauce. Tatang then took me to his basic one room apartment where i slept on his extra mattress. Being Muslim he said his daily prayer before going to bed.
