My flight from Clark to Kuala Lumpur on the 23rd November all went smoothly and then I made my way to Bukit Bintang where I found a single room for $13 a night. I had been bitten by a spider on one of my toes a few days earlier and the wound was not looking too good so I thought I would take it easy for a few days and not hop on my flight to Cambodia on the 25th. After a couple of days the wound wasn't really healing so I went to the hospital to get it cleaned as well as some cream and antibiotics. The next few days I just took it easy checking out a couple of the shopping malls and enjoying the good cheap food available.
When my toe looked and felt a bit better I paid $15 to go up to the viewing deck of KL tower to take some photos of the city. It was a nice view although the day was a little overcast and unfortunately you were behind glass. From there I walked to chinatown to take a couple of photos and finally at the end of the day made my
way across the city to the Petronas Towers to see them with their lights on in the evening.
On my last full day in KL I decided to take a bus ride to the Genting Highlands to have a look and to enjoy the outdoor theme park. I bought the Golden Pass which included the bus trip and cable car ride each way as well as the entry fee for the theme park for $16. It was nice to be in cool weather again and to enjoy some of the more adventurous rides the park had to offer, especially the corkscrew rollercoaster(3 times) and space shot(4 times).
After 9 days in Kuala Lumpur I headed north to the cooler weather at Cameron Highlands. Again I was pretty lazy, just going on a couple of the treks, having a few shots of basketball, a rafflesia tour, and eating plenty of delicious indian food. I enjoyed the rafflesia tour which had a little bit of 4wdriving, a nice trek, a nice big flower, and a blow dart demonstration. I did the waterfall trek for the third time with a nice american bloke Doug, and then we walked a little way
into the BOH tea plantation before hitchiking back to the main road and then catching the bus to Tanah Rata.
I think I spent over a week in Cameron Highlands before moving onto George Town, Penang for a few nights. On the first full day I caught a bus with a young English guy Baz, to Batu Ferringhi where we had a lot of fun on the jetskis for 20 minutes and ate a nice lunch. On the way back to George Town we decided to stop off at a nice mosque that is built over the water, take a few photos and have a coffee. This is my 3rd night in town and of course I have eaten at Kapitans a couple of times already. Baz and I are off to Krabi tomorrow leaving on an annoyingly early 5am minibus.
