Hello there my lovely people,
as you can see i am now in the lovely land of the Malaysian people and am in one of their national parks called Taman Nagara, this is a wonderful jungle from many years ago...the locals says that the jungle date back from over one million years ago and are the oldest rain forest in the world...either way it is very impressive...i got got the cheep Air Asia flight over from Hanoi to Bangkok, was sad to be saying goodbye to Eliza and Kristen who went to Sapa and then China!!! and are now getting a train into Tibet!~!! Where is the justice there??? I want to be getting a train to Tibet, but BKK was great i managed to find Ms Sara H are arrivals and we both had to laugh at each other as we had the same hair cut and colour...even 1000's of miles away from each other we still have the same hair.
We haggeled the cab into town and checked into the nicest hotel either one of us had stayed in the whole trip... went off got some patt thai which was awesome as it was made in BKK,
went and had a massage where they clicked and cracked both of us. We went to the big shopping center MBK where Sara got some converse for 10 pounds, had some more Beer Laos...drank cocktails in the street, avoided the thunderstorm...went to the Brick bar which was a mad club full of locals, we were the only Farangs ( not Thai ) there, saw some cool bands, did a bit of a dance, made friends with the locals and then drank some more cocktails in a lounge bar...all very relaxed, we then crashed out... Sara got up early left me so she had to get her flight back to London...was very sad and i got all homesick after she left.
I spent a few more days in BKK, getting boats up and down the river, riding on the sky train which is really good, checked out weird futuristic shopping malls, hurting myself in swimming pools which are too shallow to drive in!!! The scar still has not heald, then got a 22 hour train out of town and into Malaysia.
The train ride was fine, they make up the bed/seat thing for you with sheets, pillows and
blankets and as i had got some more movies and music put on my i pod i was set for the trip, also managed to find a copy of NME in BKK so have been catching up on my music knowledge...so much has happened.
The crossing was ok if it was not for the thunderstorm, and no one seeming to know where the bus stop was, but i managed to get down to Kota Beru and managed to meet a man from the local Rotary club in the bank to took me to a really nice guest house, where i showered, relaxed, took in the sights of this small market town, got rained on and drank tiger beer in strange Chinese cafes.
A bus ride down to the west coast and a mad speed boat ride takes you to the Pernithans Islands which are Malaysia's main selling point, which sands, clear blue lagoon waters and all the snorkeling and diving you want to do...i stayed on the small island, swam, got burnt on my back, eat locals curries, saw some huge land lizards the size of a croc i kid you not, not fun to bump into when
blending in with the locals
1000's of miles apart and we still have the same hair!!! you are coming back from a late night!!!! Scary...went snorkeling and saw some amazing underwater coral, 3 sharks!!! Only reef sharks so they won't hurt you or thats at least what they told us!!! Some huge turtles, got really close and heaps of big rainbow gay fish. I loved it and spent the day in wonder at this amazing world.
It is now the end of Ra madam, so the whole country are on holiday. But i have managed to get a bus and a boat tomorrow to take me to KL and then i will just have to see where i want to go next...might be Oz now that is really scary to be leaving Asia after 6 months, not sure if i am ready to do that...imagin not having to haggle for your dinner or a cab??? What craziness is that?
I have stayed in the jungel for the last 3 nights and have been hanging out with 2 American boys who are doing an exchange over here with Uni. We have been white water rafting, where we got soked needless to say, went and hung out with the local nomadic tribes people, where they showed us
how to start a fire in a few seconds, shoot blow pipes, of which me and the other girls were a dab hand, the American boys were both rubbish. We have been told that this was men's work the blow pipe stuff and hunting, but after see the boys and girls perform, we decied that the boys should stay at home and look after the kids while we went out and did the hunting and gathering.
The next day we did a trek into the world's oldest rain forest and did the sky canopy walk thing, it was a cool trek, but we did lather up with bug spray and sweat a hell of a lot, but the sky walk was awsome and well worth the hike, not sure if Liz would have been able to make it up that high. But i loved it and saw monkeys, big and small bugs, snakes and heaps of pretty birds.
I have just now taken a boat up stream where i am waiting to meet a bus to take me to KL. The monsoon is on it's way and i have no idea what my next plan will be...any suggestions???
BKK Forever
for one night only!!! xoxoxox
