Found this on our crazy hike in Kuala Lumpur.
It seems like we have been on the move since the day our flight landed. So, we decided to take a break at a beautiful island, of course. Pulau Langkawi! We are very excited about this island and hope that it fits the bill.

Picking up where I left off before.....on the second day in Kuala Lumpur we chose to make a trip to FRIM (Forestry Research Institute of Malaysia) which boasted a canopy walkway in the jungle park and waterfalls. The travel guide said that the falls did not close until 2:30pm, but it closed a 1:30pm instead. I was very disappointed that we missed the canopy walk, but decided to stay since it did cost to get in. We started walking to the waterfalls but never made it there. We took a wrong turn and hiked for three hours before we gave up. It was miserable with the sun beating down on us and not much water to drink. Macayla was so desperate for water that I asked a worker at some villa if we could get some water. He offered to pore some of his in our bottle but I could not take it. Eventually we did

find the FRIM information center and bought some water there.

That same day we had to move to another hostel since the one we were staying at was booked solid. We ended up at the Fern Loft. It was not very good. The bunk beds were rickety and squeaked so loudly that we would wake every time Macayla moved in the bed. The AC went out in the middle of the night making for a miserable time. The only great thing about that day was the super shopping deals we found. Bought two pair of Toms shoes for less than $25 and Macayla got a great deal on a handbag.

The next day we left for the island of Penang off the coast of Butterworth, Malaysia. We stayed only one night and left this morning. There were no beaches and Georgetown was really gritty. We just did not get a good feel for the place. So, we took three buses and two ferries to get to the island we are at now. We are hoping for sun, sand, and turquoise water tomorrow.

Saw this while waiting on the ferry today. In the top left corner there is a beer bottle which gives an idea of how large this lizard was.
