Went straight to Oriental Village from the airport, where I got the cable car to get a 360 degree view of the island! Absolutely stunning! Can't tell where the sky ends and the sea begins on the horizon as they are the same colour. Got very lucky with the weather because it was actually monsoon season here when I went (25th June). Basked in glorious sunshine under a clear cloudless sky all day!
I know I'm a brit, but I got kind of annoyed waiting in the queue for the cable car with so many Aussie's and other Brits squarking in my ear. They were hugely concentrated here and I gotta say I would much rather be in the company of natives as I have got along with them so well since I got here. There was this Downs Syndome girl in the queue and this group of Aussie's were being INCREDIBLY patronizing towards her saying 'awwww is it your birthday' and stuff. I just felt like telling them to get fucked she's not a retard talk to her normally. Lol anyways I know that has nothing to do with the travel experience or what not but just thought I'd
get that in there! Cable car cost RM30 which I thought was a bit steep before I went up but soon realized it was well worth it. I found it incredible how they built the thing let alone the views etc.
There was soooo much construction work going on around Oriental Village so didn't stay there long but I did have a nice hamburger before getting a suprisingly cheap taxi to Pantai Cenang beach. Was immediately ambushed by some lads there trying to sell me a parasailing session, which of course they gave me for RM60 instead of RM90. They were incredibly friendly and the one grabbed my camera and started taking loads of pictures of me throughout the session. Was so cool! There were 2 lads there to catch me back on the beach. Fell flat on my face but was laughing hysterically.
Then took time out to go to Underwater World Langkawi, where I was disappointed to find no huge sharks or anything but it was still pretty cool!
Then I went back to Pantai Cenang Beach where I met one of the beach sports managers Zainol. He totally looked after me...seemed to click with
him straight away. He gave me loads of his Tiger beer, gave me a free deck chair, took me parasailing for free just me and him, covered me over with a sheet at sunset which he told me to keep, took me to the airport, stayed with me till my flight and had dinner with me, and tried to give me RM100 which, of course, I refused. He was gorgeous and I really hope he doesn't do this with everyone lol which is why i have put his name etc in case any other females have received the same affections from him!! Hehe
I didn't have time to do anything else on Langkawi this time because I was quite happy just gettin drunk with Zainol on the beach all day, but I do plan to go there again for more than just the day and stock up on duty free too.
Pics to come....
