I find it very funny how things are meant to just happen! And well that is exactly what happend to me! After Khon Kaen, I made my way to the border town of Nong Khai-It is funny story because I arrived, and well I just choose the best description off the Lonely Planet, so I decided to give this guesthouse a go. As I am walking through a little 'soi' (alley way) I make my way into the entrance of Mutt Mee guesthouse-a hidden paradise along the Meakong River...Initially I was going to stay one night, but that soon changed right as I entered the Patio, I knew right then that I wasn't sure when I was going to leave...one night, ended in four nights....I literally had to force myself out of the area....I remember meeting this Ozzie girl who told me that I will get stuck there, and now I know why. Heheh
Well, the first night was amazing. I took a river boat cruise along the Meakong River and had dinner at sunset. I was lucky to have met a wonderful woman named Wendy who was traveling solo from London. We had an instant connection, and just got on. The next day we decided to rent some bikes and we rode to a wonderful scuplture garden, with many buddas and sculptures! AMAZING it was!! After that we decided to go explore the area and took random roads into the countryside-The highlight of the day was actually stopping with some locals who were picking rice (two women and a man). They were waving to us, so Wendy and I spontaneously stopped and offered to lend them a hand-so we jumped off our rickity old bikes and started to pick rice, we got muddy, but no worries it was all worth it!!
We headed back, I was sunburnt soo bad, which is rare for me-we kinda think it has something to do with the malaria pills..oh well, that night we decided to head for dinner and go for a drink at the bar located on a boat by the guesthouse. There was live music playing (this amazing Ozzie bloke) was belting tunes while a crazy but fun local Thai girl was celebrating her birthday by going crazy, however this was great because the energy was AWESOME!! We started chatting to some New Zealanders and a couple from Los Angeles-that night we all had this amazing connection, and well to make a long story short 2 nights of fun we had all in "Peace, Love and Harmony'-good times-
To be honest, I just felt so wonderful at this place-the people I met-the energy of the place-the environment, it was kinda hard for me to get up and make a move, but I think that weekend is definitely a weekend worth not forgetting-amazing connections-I am happy:) and I believe some things are just meant to happen;)
Now, I am in Vientianne, Laos and well I start my work project tomorrow...until next blog..
Peace, Love and Harmony:)
