Well arrived in Vang Vieng yesterday and apart from being touristy is quite a nice place as a stop off for a few day. I came here (like most people) for tubing and wowsa!
Tubing is just amazing, i have come out with bruises but wonderful memories and a few pictures ( not as many as i would like as i was afraid of getting it wet).
Now my sobre-ing up mind tells me i must write this in choronological order...the bus ride from Luang Prabang was a bit of an adventure- lets just say the roads are mainly mountain roads and are work in progress so pot holes and a bumpy ride was the tale of the day...we arrived here only an hour later than planned so all good in Laos time...some girls on the minibus before mine wee looking for a room so i decided to tag along with them as it was mainly couples on mine - they were a good laugh or the 6hours but no room mates... myself and these 3 other girls managed to get the last room at the Babylon Guesthouse which is the only one that has reviews online.
Had a relatively early night last night...but well today has been amazing...
We got our tubes and there were 10 of us and we all stopped at the first place...morning pit stop for beerLao...and a free shot of LaoLao (whisky- normally home made)...also had a random act of crazyness and got on this huge swing you hang onto and drop metres into the water (got a video i will add one day when not in Laos- internet is a tad slow and temperamental here.
After about the third bar i lost the people i originally set off with as i couldnt get into the bar so stopped off at the next place which had this huge slide which unfortunately i didn't go on but i was told it was a tad painful and also being the wrong timeof the month i didn't want to land smack into the water too many times- at least when you dive in you have some control...met some peoplehere that i was on the minibus with and also the nottingham couple which was great and after a few buckets (very strong) and a few vodka cokes we got back into our tubes and headed down the river...this is when i got my bruises going down mini rapids and hitting my back and bum on rocks in the water...we stopped at the one last bar and got a few buckets to share between us and then cruised (mainly apart from the rapids where we had a call for Bums UP!!!) down the river enjoying life and the scenery...definately the life;...we started as abo 5 joined together with our feet and endered up with approx 15 of us joint together- joint nationalities joined by tubes...apart from one kayak lol...an amazing experience and would love to do it again but am off to Vientiene tomorrow.
I fully recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure, no views on health and safety and generally anyone wishing to have fun (its alright only one person dies a month)...such an amazing experience.
Well i am off out for food...then probably a few drinks...or a few more for our 9am minibus ride to Vientiene...also wil look for hostels i suppose at some point.
The keyboard here is very dodgy so i am now giving up on writing anymore.
Have fun :) :)
