So we've now arrived in Vang Vieng home of tubing and chill out bars. Its a bit like the lazy river at the water parks except its on a real river (with bamboo built bars)!!
We got a number written on our hands and a big tyre ring strapped on to the tuktuk with 6 other people and off we headed out of town to the dropping off point of the river. The river was cold, but the bars and aerial swings were in sight and so off we headed, stopping at the first one we came to; Beer Lao and free bananas!
Jumping is free after you buy a drink and there are friendly locals that laugh when they give you shots of free Lao Lao, a cross between tequila and petrol! Ree went down the zip line and expertly let go before being flung in the air and landing on his head like all the people before him!!! a great skill to possess!
We then got back in the river, avoiding the bodies jumping from the aerial ropes and swings, and headed for another bar. Lots of Beer Lao, Beer Lao! being shouted!! there weren't too
many rock incidents so so far so good.
We reached "The Last Stop Bar" and decided it would be more fun to try and tube all the way back to our bungalow instead of getting a tuktuk back. the River got too shallow and we had to pick up our tubes and walk (looked from a distance like we could walk on water!)
Down stream further and getting darker we decided to give up and climbed aboard a tuktuk with group of Swedish girls, 10 passengers and 10 tubes and then the tuktuk tried to get up the hill. It started and then the engine cut out - we began rolling backwards and unfortunately we were the last ones in - therefore first out - Suzie did manage to get a bit to the side as she fell out the back with a Swedish girl on top of her - Ree managed to hold the tuktuk on the hill before the driver got the handbrake on.
great fun and back home in one piece
