Loas just keeps getting better and better! We had an fun night in Luang Prabang. We went to this local club Dao Fah on the edge of town and had a few beers. Beer Lao, of course, since nothing else is sold. - It seemed kinda cheesy like a high school dance, with everyone sitting around. Then all of a sudden people started dancing these cheoreographed dances, and everyone knew them, except for us, the few foreigners. It reminded me of Micheal Jackson's Thriller. I had fun. Then finally they put on some "western" music and everyone started dancing and jumping around, so me and Kalyna felt more comfortable joining in. It was strange though, seeing kids (and there were little kids there too!) singing along to Lil Jon and 50 Cent. You'd think we could escape it here, but its EVERYWHERE!
Today we took a 5 hour bus ride down to Vang Vieng, a tiny village by mountains. We went down Route 13 which I was kind of nervous about because in 2002, Hmong rebels supposedly took the bus hostage and killed everyone on board. I've also heard of horror stories about the buses having no breaks and falling
over cliffs. It turns out that my fears were unfounded, even the the cliffs were crazy.
We opted for the faster air conditioned VIP bus rather than the slower public bus and paid a buck more. There was no air conditioning but an open door and windows. We became friends with the bus driver and his buddies who were our age. Only one of them can speak English, but their going to show us the town tommorow. They even helped us find a pretty nice guesthouse.
I crashed my bike yesterday. Well not really. My shoelace got tangled in the wheel and when I tried to stop, I tipped the bike over and fell on a curb. And kids laughed at me. I'm too clumsy. We'll see what happens tommorow on the MOTORCYCLE I just rented!!! Just wait. They'll be a story tommorow.
Oh and my ear hurts and I can't hear out of it.
Funny Kalyna. This is to get back for laughing at my bike accident - BITCHULA!
