It's been a while. A couple of fustrated blogs went missing after i typed them out. So 3 strikes and thats will be that.
After Vientianne , we went to Kong Lo caves, this was one of the sites we had planned on visiting. We were lucky to find a bus that went there directly, as our bible (The lonely planet) mentioned we had to take a few different buses and possibly an overnight stay in a small town on route. The bus drove directly to a brand new guest house khonglor eco-lodge, i mean just finish building, brand new coloured sheets the plastic was still on the toilet handle. 1 klm from the cave and only 60 000 kip. For 100 000 kip we get 2 guides witgh head lamps and a small boat. one guide to light the passage for the other guide to steer the boat. We also pay 2000 kip each for entry fee. And now for the cave itself,it is 7.5 klm tunnel carved out of an immense limestone mountain.Luckly Sean rented a head lamp, as before we even enter the cave we are strucked by the gaping mouth of the cave, E ntering the cave it give you a sense of a dark cathedral with 100 meter high ceillings. At one point we stop and dissambark with only the head lamp as our light, we walk through a stalactite formation forest it feels like your on another planet, a timer light comes now that now illuminate the formations making it like something from another planet. We re-embak the boat and continue down the river to the end of the tunnel in awe. Well worth the effort in getting there and OUT.Now how do we return to civilization, the only bus here returns to vientianne and we want to go to vietnam. That is another adventure , keep on checking, we will try to get up to date tomorrow. We are 5 days behind in the blog, we are currently in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
