Well thought that i would start this up to keep a track of what i have been up to here in my time in Japan. Living in Hokkaido has been a dream and even thought the snow has melted, is still one of the most beautiful places i have ever lived. Its not just the nature, but it all has such a spiritual sense to it, don't know how to describe it. The people are just so beautiful you want to wrap them up and take them home with you! Life here exists of only Hirafu, and tiny place with one convience store, and Kutchan which is sort of like chatswood about 30years ago.. or more... but thats the beauty of it, since living here you begin to forget what materialism is, what advertising is and don't give a damn if you end up walking out in socks and slippers. I have no idea what Brad and Jen are up to these days, and can't remember what sitting in traffic or being in an office 8 hrs a day is like... and its great!
since last Dec, life has been full of adventures that words just can't describe, I have
met the most beautiful people, and had 3 months of boarding the best powder snow ever, and living / working for/with the awesomest (is that a word?) ppl ever and being lucky enough to make friends with some really cool guests that I know I will stay friends with for a long time. I thought the novelty of being here would wear off, but really every day here is amazing. Even the crap days are cool as it keeps me with reality, and makes the great days even better.
Highlights of the winter season would be working at Shizenkan, meeting awesome guests like the crazy Melb trio, Cheech, K, Max, kev and the gang, the craaaazie Manabe and even 'room 3' favourites.. ha ha... even the creepy likes of Todd and Cameron made the winter that much more interesting - once they left.. ha ha......building and partying in the infamous igloo, sapporo snow festival (or maybe just the crazy train ride back!) and challenging my liver to 2 mths of no sleep - no soberness.
The snow is starting to melt and am facing the reality of life without powder, but on the other hand am really looking
forward to summer and getting into some new things. Niseko is one of those places where I feel I could really live in, if only my dog, family and friends were here - and Allens lollies and bakers delight bread.... and aussie cereal... seriously, if all of the above were here, I could live here forever - (and if the beach with good surf was here)..... and... ok, won't go on... so in otherwords, hoping I have convinced you all to migrate here, Allens and Kellogs to set up shop and costal changes so beaches naturally appear.. have never been one to ask for alot, so hoping this wish works out.....
MinaminaThe crazy Steve, Tom and Troy hitting it out at Minamina..
Kana & I - boredKana and I doin' cheech and maxer impersonations... think we beat the originals... ha ha..
KamekuraThe infamous igloo... who needs Qbar when you have an igloo?!
IwanaiUsually takes 40 mins to get there, took Josh and I 2 hrs, but was worth it! First time seeing a sea surrounded by snow capped cliffs..
Maxer and Kev.Max, Kev and the shizenkan fam..one of the normaler moments..
Mt YoteiThis is what I see every day when I step out the door, yet you never, ever, EVER get sick of it..
Otaru crabsHappy to see them and salivate - sad to see the price and have to walk away. yes, they are $70 crabs. I ended up having a $7 lunch.
