First Full Day

I've now been in Tokyo for a full day, and I have yet to meet my roommate. Earlier today was really boring as it was pouring and I couldn't find anyone around the dorm. So I stayed in my room and watched TV. Well, I watched the pictures anyway. And of course since I had nothing to do that was very entertaining, the jet-lag kicked in. So I took a nap around 2:30 and woke up an hour later. When I went down to the lounge, there were finally people in here. At this point I realized I hadn't eaten all day. I really wanted to try something different than Denny's, but nothing was open. I think it had to do with the weather. So Travis and I ended up at Denny's again, but my meal was so much better. I had this dish with spaghetti noodles and a soft boiled egg. It was pretty good. It also came with a salad (some broccoli, egg, relish thing) and a dessert. The dessert was so good! It was vanilla ice cream with a cream puff, some other creamy something (it looked like flan but so wasn't), cocoa puffs (I'm not joking!), whipped cream, and caramel. It's like the Denny's back home. You'll be lucky to find a dish that's actually good but the desserts are totally worth it. After dinner we came back and hung out in the lounge. Then some guys came in saying they were going to the 98 yen store (kind of like 99 cents stores). When I came back down after grabbing my things, I realized that most of the students had arrived (but still no roommate). We took the bus down to the 98 cents store and I bought some food and water so I could stop spending 1000 yen a meal. So I haven't seen much except for around Meguro, the ward I live in. (Tokyo is a huge city that is split into different sections called wards. I think there's 23 of them.) Apparently Meguro is the richest and safest neighborhood (good news for my parents). Tomorrow's orientation, so I'll finally get to see more of Tokyo. And since it's going to be an early start and a long day, I think I'll go to bed now. Maybe I'll find a way to upload my pictures tomorrow.
