Signing off From Tokyo

So team, it time to sign off from Tokyo and what a wonderful adventure it has been.

Looking back at the 3 months, I can't believe I've had so many great opportunities and luck. Challenging, but rewarding job; great bunch of people at my apartment; new Japanese friends through work; opportunity to visit my old host family and friends again and a chance to live everyday life in Tokyo, one of the world's most alive and dynamic cities.

So here is my partner in crime, the very hansom Dominic Salomoni signing in...! 😉

Dom Signing In...

So “we” spent 6 nights and 7 days together in Tokyo and they were action packed! From the Fuji TV Tower which is a space age looking media building to Mount Fuji to the Temple's - I don't think my feet touched the ground. I also observed that these guys can sleep anywhere - trains, bars, restaurants.... thus allowing me to sneak 5 minutes of shut eye on the JR (train) - A well known Salomoni tactic hey gents!

YT as ever was the conjenial host and her command of Japanese is very impressive

Hanami Kai Season (Blossom Viewing Party Season!)
I must say (good work doll)! Having a hot, super smart, girlfriend who can speak the lingo in your back pocket, is a must for any body visiting Japan!!!!!

The food really was great with my personal favourite being Okonomiyake. The Cherry Blossom's bloomed and the people were genuinely delightful. Japan/Tokyo eminates a feeling of absolute safety and respect for others - quite amazing and I think they may be on to something???

Could I live in Tokyo? I think the answer is yes. However, I think I would have to learn Japanese and probably get a season ticket to the J-League to keep me amused!

Overall view - Japan & Tokyo ROCK!

Our Last Few Days

We capped off our time in Tokyo with 2 wonderful outings.. The First being a 'Hanami Kai' (Blossom Viewing Party) at Yoyogi Park and the second a final 'night cap' at the New York Bar at the Park Hyatt in Shinjuku (Ref: Bill Murry & Scarlette Johannsen in Lost in Translation)

We could almost count the Sakura as our 2nd Big Ticket Item, as they only fully bloom for 1 week of the year, and somehow

Dom managed to time his visit with the best weekend of the year!

Michael, resident of Nakano Sakaue Sakura House, organised a great Hanami Kai, and there was a great turn out of Wunerman Dentsu work friends, as well as the usual Sakura House gang. The whole afternoon felt something akin to an outdoor festival, with an estimated 100,000 people picnic-ed out on blue tarps, downin' sake, singing and generally being extremely merry!

Our picnic group pulled a solid 6 hours of sakura 'viewing'... (check code for 'drinking'), and even were treated by a near by group with decks, amps and a make-shift dance party.

It was a wicked evening and an amazing way to spend our final weekend in Japan.

Sunday was our last day, and most of it was spent frantically packing, shipping boxes home and getting into a general tizz... But Bec & Benno brought the medicine required, and came by at around 8pm with a bottle of white wine, rockin' attitude and threads, ready for an evening of sophistication at the New York Bar - top level of the Park Hyatt.

I think the pictures should speak volumes about how COOL

Hanami Kai in Yoyogi Koen!
this bar is. It was an amazing vibe, and I will never forget the feeling of being on top of Tokyo with Jazz music, good friends and the memories of an amazing 3 months in Japan.

So Signing off from Tokyo...
