The second leg of our trip took us to Mt. Fuji and the Hakone region. It was day filled with breaktaking scenary.
Our bus was only allowed to Station 1, pretty much at the base of
Mt. Fuji. There was a snow storm in the morning, and the roads were too icy to travel. So we had to look at the cloud-covered peak from afar. The clouds started to clear during our lunch at a nearby hotel, and our tour guide rushed us outside to get pictures.
Usually the tour stops at the Mt. Fuji Visitors' Centre, but it was closed, so we stopped at
temple and pagoda en route. It was beautiful because it was quiet, peaceful surroundings and everything was lightly dusted with snow.
We arrived in Hakone and took a
boat cruise on Lake Ashi. At the other end of the lake there was a
cable car ride to the top of the mountain. It was a spectacular view from the top. We could see over the land to the ocean. Mom was a little nervous at the top!! (right Mom?!)
We were dropped in a lovely moutain hotel to spend a quiet evening. We were thankful
to be inside, because it was getting coooooold out! (and you thought you left the cold winter in Canada, eh guys?!?!)
having fun Aunt Sue?at the ferry port there were toy cars that we could pay to drive! aunt sue and i gave it a try
Lake Ashi(and the ocean beyond in the distance)

Yes, Mt. Fuji looks pretty amazing! Wonder if there are any skiers there??!!! Still, it does look a bit cool outside, especially for the cruise part. Hope the place where you spent the night was cosy and warm! Looking forward to the next part!
i'm so glad you're family got to visit you!
Looks like you had a great time...I love the toy cars, hilarious!
