Jap-lish is predominant here. I have found a very guilty vice in taking photographs of Jap-lish whilst Japanese people look on in confusion at this nosy foreigner.
Furthermore, I believe I get such a great rush from Jap-lish because:
1) I can read it
2) I can laugh at it
3) Because as I have a weird habit of reading everything (chip packets, shampoo bottles, face creams) and that habit was taken away from me when I came to Japan, then this is my new guilty found pleasure.
Enjoy!!
Also, 100 yen stores here are amazing. You can buy shoes, food, chairs, beauty products, underwear, towels... Well thats the normal stuff. But if you happen to chance upon the costumes section, now THERE is where the good times roll. The boys and I nearly wet out pants laughing at the costumes that were on offer. Adult disposable panties, duck head costumes to place on your private parts (for use for men and women), giant baby bibs for the adult baby in you...... Have a look at the bottom of the page! Hilarious.
So Im sitting on the net right now, waiting for sunset
The boys and metrying on the many weird but slighty normal costume headwear
so I can go on a massive walk with 4 Litres of water. Thats my new excercising habit as I haven't figured out the way to get into the pools. But with all the biking here, I think excercising just comes naturally here.
Today was a great day. It begun with the Opening Ceremony of Gifu University where I had to do the opening speech. Ah! But it went really well. You would be proud. And it was really cool seeing everyone so dressed up. We took photos with the deans and the president of Gifu University. And then we all went to have lunch under the Hanami with the Ryugaku love club. And I found out about the canoeing- club where we canoe on the Nagara river every second saturday or sunday. As a beach/water girl, I've really really missed water sports and swimming so I am excited! Japan is so cool!
Got to make the most of it now though, as I start classes on Monday beginning with a meeting at 8:45. So tonight, the boys, jo and I and maybe a few japanese kids are planning to climb onto the roof (I think Peter
will be the designated the monkey as they lock the roof up pretty well) and we might have a cocktail party. Yay!! Or a get together in the Lobby or in Chrystians room. I don't mind either way, I live down the hall! It's so great!
Keep you posted. Miss you guys at home. Much love!!! xxxxx
