Hello! Welcome i guess, this is a pretty cool site.. I wanted to make a blog so I could let all my friends know about what is going on over here. Its a lot easier to write it once then a bunch of times! So the flight was long, but it was very nice, i got Sushi for part of my meal. I was like WHOA I feel like a queen! It was great..I landed in Narita airport (Tokyo) at 12 Noon Japan time. The airport was really nice..found my way around..realized i needed to pick up my luggage, b/c I thought they were sending it through, so, not too bad.. I had to go back to customs..needless to say i am now well acquainted with Narita Airport and how to get around! haha

I caught a local flight to Kamatsu, where I was greeted by my boss. There was a younger man sitting next to me on the plane, and I did the usual like hello, how are you, where are you going blah blah...well the conversation got to about there.. when I realized he had no clue what I was saying...yeah, that's when it hit me..i was going to Rural japan!! haha!!

My boss then drove me to Sabae, which is in Fukui Prefecture, where i met my friend Kat, who I would be staying with for about 10 days while my apartment was getting ready and cleaned out. the apartments are great.. they are two bedrooms, one that has a balcony, it has a bathtub and separate from that a shower, a full kitchen, washer the whole nine yards. It is way more space then one person needs, but hey, ill take it. I plan to spread out and maybe get a fish.. lol

The past few days i have been getting acquainted with the area, me and kat have been driving around..oh yes I forgot, we have cars too...I have learned to drive on the other side of the road..its not too hard here really b/c they drive pretty slow and are good drivers... that said though, I am still considered putting a massive sign on my car that says.. AMERICAN, use extra caution! haha..but I think ill be ok. so, food, shelter, transport.. I seem pretty set here.

Oh right, most important part...THIS PLACE IS GORGEOUS!! I wake up, its rice fields immediately next to me, and I look up and its all huge tall mountains. I can't get over it. Its just so pretty. I have mountains to the east of me, and the sea of japan to the West. Me and kat took a drive out to the coast two days ago. The drive was really pretty, and the coast is breathtaking. The water is pretty and there are massive rocks everywhere! (see pics)...

Im still getting oriented with the new place, but thus far it seems to be a pretty good deal!

p,s...Got new shoes, which I am abnormally obsessed with. Shopping here is...interesting...

In 1603, a Tokugawa shogunate (military dictatorship) ushered in a long period of isolation from foreign influence in order to secure its power. For 250 years this policy enabled Japan to enjoy stability and a flowering of its indigenous culture. Fol...more info
