It's thursday and we're still frolicking in the Gili's. My god, it's hard to leave this place ! We were supposed to leave yesterday but extended our stay yet again and are now leaving tomorrow. We booked a bus-boat combo to Ubud where we'll spend our last night in Indo. Sadly this time the plan is final cause I have to be at work again monday, but I don't want to think about it just yet, so for now.. I'm still here and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.
We didn't do much in the last few days apart from going to the beach and hang out with the lads. The party mondaynight was quite solid, though it ended sooner than expected due to the power cut. Ah well, we were done partying anyway. Especially Elle cause she was hammered. I don't know what she had for drinks but she was well off her face. Lol.
Tuesday wasn't very active either. In fact, we did less. However I did manage to teach the lads some origami. I'm sure knowing how to make a bird from a piece of paper will prove very useful in their future travels.
Lol. Elle stayed in the bungalow in the evening cause she caught a cold (in the hot weather of Indonesia, can you imagine ?), which we strongly suspect she got from the malaria medication she had been taking, so I went to dinner by myself. Didn't join the lads cause they wanted to see the new Bond movie which didn't interest me in the slightest. Not a problem, I enjoyed my meal in the company of my book. Haven't done much reading since I got here, so it was a good chance to catch up. I'm reading 'The lovely bones' from Alice Sebold btw. Good book so far. Marty showed up about an hour later and reported that the Bond movie was rubbish. Doh ! Not really surprising me thinks.
Yesterday,
wednesday, we discovered the delicious Wayan Bakery. We didn't fancy going too far off the beach for lunch so went to Wayan's a few meters further. Lunch was good, but desert was far better ! After two weeks abroad I was really craving for chocolate, so desert had to be anything made with it. Well it didn't take me a long time to choose, the 'death by chocolate'
cake had my name all over it. It was to die for ! Then in the evening Elle was still not feeling the greatest, so Marty and I left her to rest and went for rum o'clock at his. The both of us went to a little store to get the rum but couldn't find a decent bottle. Good rum is not easy to find in this part of the world so we settled for cake-rum. Tasted a bit dodgy at first but I got used to it after a while. No complains from Marty though, he'd been living on the stuff for days. Soon after we experienced yet another power cut but we had our bevvies so we weren't buggered. A few hours later we joined Elle and Trimm for the Tir Na Nog - better known as 'the irish bar' - party but none of us were keen on the place so we ended up having the scoops at Rudy's instead.
So today,
thursday, we spent our last day on the beach with the boys and went to Wayan's bakery again for lunch. None of us could resist the cakes so we all had a chocolate fix
and then spent the entire afternoon at Wayan's playing cards. It was definitely a good way to end the holiday. I'm a bit bummed to leave this place, but I suppose that's just life hey ? Well, at least I can say I really had a good time on this trip. Eventhough I had a bit of bad luck on the mountain it was still a great adventure, and the island was just something else. I'm thinking of coming back next year.. No, I'm definitely coming back next year.
Off to Rudy's now. Laters.
