This is D day. I woke up 4.30 this morning. Taking shower after morning prayer, I dressed up for the parade. Yes, the participants are required to dress up according to their traditional culture for the parade. This time I choosed Malay simple dress, because I am using it every week in Brunei, so no need special preparation. Back to the time when I still live in Sumatra, this dress also part of Our culture, even though We only using it on special occasion like wedding party.
6.40 am. I and Assifa saying good bye to Our host Mr Taufiq and his wife. We took our lugage with Us because according to the schedule given by the committee, We will depart to Sempol (
coffee plantation near Mount Ijen) right after lunch today. For Our host, it is earlier than their expectation, so they haven't prepare any breakfast for Me. But Assifa had her breakfast earlier this morning (
Her room is next to the kitchen). I handed over "Kain Sinjang Brunei" to Mr Taufiq as a thank to him and his family for letting me stay in their house.
"This is for You, if You are not using it here, You can hang it on the wall" I said.
Suddenly Mr Taufiq rushing to his room then come out with "Sarung Gajah Duduk" on his hand.
"this is for You, and if You are not using it in your place, You can hang it on the wall" Said Mr Taufiq repeating what I said to Him when I gave Him the Sinjang.
We are not going straight to Attaqwa mosque. Like usual, We are heading to Eva's house. I feels like they are my host also. I can recall that I spent more time to interact with them than to my own host. Eva is ready with her dress, and they are about to start their breakfast. I have a glass of tea there.
7.20 am, We walked to Attaqwa Mosque of course after taking picture session. Most of the participant is there with their unique dress when we arrive. I find out that not only the participant of Ijen Festival will doing the parade. There are groups of student wearing traditional dresses from different provinces in Indonesia, marching band and cultural troupe.
We are marching around the city centre, passing some main road in Bondowoso.
It is unusual for Bondowoson to see foreigner in their city. So this moment We make the traffic jammed because the people stopped to watch Us marching. On some occasion We need to stop because of the traffic jammed. And these moments we fill with dancing on the street while a car that leading Us playing the music loudly.
When We arrived on Alun-alun, a stage is there. Then We are all be seated under one of the tent in the area. Performances by local scholl are taking stage there. And as the closing they played Singo ulung.
We have Our lunch in Attaqwa then have free time for one hour rest. We use our resting time to go to Eva's house again for changing our dress.
When We come back to Attaqwa (
we late about 15minutes), Attaqwa is looked empty. I have bad feeling about it. May be we are left behind. But Eva saw Kaska(participant from poland) seat in the mosque, so it is a relief for Us that they might be still not departed to Sempol.
