Asia Trip Part 11

Het door Hollanders bezette GG guesthouse Happy Valley verlaten we om op weg te gaan naar onze laatste bestemming van de rondreis; Jakarta.
Onderweg even iets totaal anders zien, Taman Safari. Helemaal niet typisch Indonesisch maar wel leuk om ff wat anders te doen. De wegen rondom Bogor zijn ook vandaag weer een totale ramp, alles potdicht en het duurt dan ook tot in de vroege middag om het park te bereiken.
Leuk om te zien hoe de “wilde” dieren hier, veel anders dan de Beekse Bergen rondlopen onder de hoede van parkrangers die bij een dreigende ontsnapping van een katachtige uit hun leefgebied met een druk op de knop het toegangshek van het gebied sluiten, weer wel Indonesisch.
Na de safaritocht willen we naar Tama Mini in Jakarta maar voor de 3e dag gooit het verkeer van Bogor roet in het eten. Veel te laat komen we in Jakarta aan om nog iets in daglicht te ondernemen en gaan dus maar naar ons 5* hotel Gran Makahan en da’s luxe!
Luxe is voor pa toch een uitdaging. In Indonesia gebruiken veel inlanders geen toiletpapier maar is er een soort aparte douche met douchekop en slang naast het toilet om te gebruiken.
In een echt luxe hotel is er dat niet. Pa heeft aan nieuwsgierigheid niet ingeboet dus draait aan een klein knopje met opschrift (onleesbaar), meteen komt er een hydraulisch mechanisme uit de wc-pot en spuit water; niet tegen iemands kont maar tegen pa's broek! En lachen, ik dacht;"hij wordt oud en plast al tegen zijn eigen broek" haha wat een giller, pa zelf kwam niet meer bij.

To experience something completely different (sounds familiar English!) we decided to go to Taman Safari. Nothing Indonesian about but nice to see something else for a change.
The road from Bogor is a total disaster again and we arrive early afternoon instead of late morning.
But it is nice to see how the “wild” animals are shown to the public the Indonesian way!
If a predator is coming too close to an escape they press a button and close the gate, wait till the animal turns around and opens the gate again to let other vehicles in.
After the safari we planned to go to Tama Mini in Jakarta but for the 3rd time the traffic ruined our plan. Arriving in Jakarta way too late to do anything during daylight we went to our 5* luxurious hotel Gran Mahakan, and luxurious it is.
Real luxury is not something pa handles every day. In Indonesia people use water instead of paper to clean their behind. Most of the times next to the toilet bowl is a kind of shower to do that with.
In a hotel like this it's more luxurious of course.
Still being very curious pa turns a small knob with unreadable signs. A mechanism appears in the toilet bowl and starts spraying water, not on somebody’s behind but against pa's trousers. I thought he peed his pants but pa was laughing his head off with this incident, very funny!
