Burning in Bali

So we are on the last location before we head home...can you believe it because we can't...we arrive into Bali a bit over the day it was late and we had been waiting for hours at the other end as we shared the car into to town from borobudur and we got to the airport well early....on arriving into bali we went and got some money and then got a teksi to the hotel we had booked into for a couple of nights....we arrived and went to our room it was nice tiny bathroom and couldn't shut the door for the toilet as my knees stuck out to far hehe but it was nice...we had some dinner very late midnight almost I think and then went off to bed! The next morning we had just woken up when I heard my sis and brother inlaw outside talking....a bit groggy got up and went and had a quick chat and organised to catch up later on at there place down the road...we all hung out and wandered around for the day and night it was great to all be together. the next day we head over to sanur and the beautiful Puri Mesari we were staying here for my 30th birthday so we had splashed out a bit but it was worth it a beautiful place and the rooms were lovely 😊

We went down the road and found a place for the others and had some lunch at the Cat and Fiddle..mmmm was just as good we remember we ate here a few times and around this area as it was close to where we were staying again this time...we also ate at the Sinndu Markets best place for a cheap feed and good too if you don't mind sitting in the smoke and local food 😊

My other sis arrived was so good to see her and Ryan they lived down the road and Mike as stayed with them for a couple of months before he came over. We had a quick catch up and then all head off to bed for the night...we went off to Mike, Fleur and Ryan went on a mission to Kuta and around and then came back and dropped Mike off and picked up myself and the rest of the crew we head off to Tanah Lot to watch the sunset it was a nice night to watch the sunset and the waves were crashing on the rocks...we made it just in time 😊 We soon head off with the rest of the herds and make our way home and then head down to the markets and order 60 chicken satay sticks and some rice and stuff....everyone at the markets were looking a little confused with the order.....but they did it happily....we had to sit at the neighbouring table as there was not enough space at the place we normally go...he was happy to have us there and no doubt got a cut from the order 😊
the next night Tonia my best friend arrived from n.z so happy she made it she was really late and we were worried something had happened...she could hardly walk when she arrived she was so tired. The next day was my birthday we all got up and had breakfast and Wisna my best friend in bali arrive with her partner Adi and we all head off to the orphanage with a couple of stops on the way to get some supplies to take with us...many of the kids aren't there and the orphanage is much nicer than we expected...there is no doubt they still need food and help so we are happy we have made the effort.
we got back to the hotel and went off to lunch down at the beach we then had a mani,pedi and hubby had a hair cut and shave which was well overdue. We soon went home for a swim which was lovely got ready and head over too Bubba Gumps the best, runniest restaurant in Bali...we ordered a margarita for Ryan and he got surrounded with people chanting and shaking his drink before they poured it...I got to stand up with a group of others and have a little cake and happy birthday sung to me....the only thing is I look like a giant with my big heels and the size 4-6 girls that were also celebrating birthdays hehe

The next day Fleur and Ryan were out for the day so we hung around at the hotel and swam in the pool and ate there...later on we went down the road and had dinner and on the way back ran into Fleur and Ryan they had just returned and we went down the road and had super cocktails as it was the last night we were going to see them as they were off to Ubud the next day....we said our goodbyes we will see them in a couple of weeks time when we get home as our home is there house 😊

We spend the next day moving locations and hanging out at the hotel...we don't get up to much in Sanur to be honest the feel is different maybe we have seen to much or maybe as we are coming to the end of the trip and the money is low we are finding it a bit hard as we are really scraping by paying for the hotel and food...Antonia got sick which was terrible and spent a day in bed...but she was just well enough for walk along the beach the day my phone rang and it was Fleur and Ryan they had left Bali and were in Singapore and they rang to tell us they got engaged wow what exciting news we can't wait to see them and celebrate.
We also managed to catch up with friends Gordo and Ratna which was cool just like old times they haven't changed and were busy talking to everyone at the cat and fiddle they hadn't seen for a while.

We head over to Kuta on the last day with T and have dessert at Bubba Gumps for lunch and wander around and look for somewhere to stay we booking into A & P Inn and pay a deposit...we head back have our final dinner and hangout in our room and its sadly time for T to leave...we walk her down to the car and say goodbye...we hope to see her soon but its not so likely as we will not be off to n.z for a while and she will likely not be over for a while 😞

The next day we head over to the new place and soon after we arrive Mike has a shower and comes and says to me I can't have a shower in there the bath filled up and didn't drain its so dirty...we soon went off to find a new place to stay...we end up around the corner at New Arena it's much cheaper and clean and pretty nice...we stay in the Inn that night and wish we had just ditched we didn't get sleep as we were itchy mine was mainly my arm that i sleep with under the pillow, especially Mike all over...the next morning we had breakfast and got out of there and head over to new arena...a few days later Mikes not feeling great sore throat etc, I slipped over by the pool (my fault) and have a sore shoulder and hip for a couple of days thankfully that's it!
we spent this week eating in warungs and watching sunsets on the beach wandering the shops and generally just mucking about...until we woke up with bites all over us five days into our stay at arena...well we thought that this is it the bed bugs everyone talks about here have got us here at arena we look around the place and no one else has bites...well after further research I discover that the bites aren't visible for five to seven days so even though I know its really not from where we are they say the worst part of bed bugs is insomnia and they aren't wrong...the next day after no sleep we are walking the street happy to give up the $60 left on our place to find somewhere to sleep properly...however walking down the road we see someone that has been staying at our hotel for longer than us we ask her and she has been there 7 nights and no problems no bites and is leaving tonight so we go back to the hotel and ask to move to her room they are fine with this YAY....That day I am sick with a cold and with bites and headache arrrggghh and we have no room as we moved out at midday and the other room wont be ready until 7pm we wandered the streets all day, laid by the pool....we eventually made it to our room that we haven't seen yet and its cute and has heaps of windows and is new and very clean 😊 we are happy campers and both sleep that night and each night from there on until we leave.
We found bali a lot more expensive, dirty this time but I will be back I still love bali we just need to go out of this tourist area and find a new home...Sanur is not the same so maybe north a little will help.

The trip home was not sooo bad we head to the airport and the flight out is good and we get into perth head out and have some gifts taken off us....there is some lights they are selling in Kuta round or square they are different coloured back piece made off perspex and flax and stuff all over the front they also have a little bumpy bit they are crushed up egg shell 😞 not allowed we have to get it treated and as we flew through perth its in the too hard basket the other thing we are not allowed at all a little hand back made of cane style something to do with the product they used on the sides of the bag...it swells when it gets wet so bad that one small piece can block a drain so we are not allowed this at all! 😞
We make our way to the other airport on the complimentary bus and then we check in and grab something to eat...we are soon on the plane but by the time we get to the airport in brisbane get the bus home its like 8am brisbane time we have had about 1-2hours sleep on the plane (which were full) we have been up for 24hours...I am not a sleep during the day person so stay up all day and night until 10pm but we have a sleepless night and for the next week we can't settle...we eventually get a little better but sleeping late is the way we role hehe.

Thanks everyone for reading and although we have no plans for a new adventure at this stage I will keep the blog and add any trips that we may go on...you never know we might get to go somewhere closer to home that we have never been too instead of international hehe.
